"She's had a hard life, and for much longer than I had. My father rescued me from the slums of Hekaga when I was just a toddler, but no one came to 'rescue' her. My grandparents were too proud to accept any money from my father, or even their invitation to live together with him on his farm" Kos explained. "Still, they've been able to live on that dry, thin land for about eighty years now, so they must be doing something right."

"And what about Prudence? What's she like?" Iskra asked, suddenly curious. 

"You are special" Larek assured her. "Few females would become adventurers, and those who do don't always do so for unselfish reasons. Most do so to find treasure or to become famous or something else which is self-centered."
