His magic is really devastating. Would you mind to say that he can not burn everything in his part when he flies?

Say he can choose not to do it, that as a grandpa he learned to control it, to shut it down? Or does he prefer traveling in his compact form to avoid devastation of the dragon tribe, just because he fly over it?
I can see that some dragons wouldnt be happy to have their home or sleep place burn because he moves from point A to point B XD
