I never understood shipping, most of the time there really isn't _anything_ to go on. Take Pasta's Naruto/Ino for example. As far as I'm aware, these two have never really hung out, there's no chemistry, no hints of anything more, nothing that indicates that they could have a romance. I've seen much stranger pairings as well, with characters who doesn't even know that the other exists. What's the point? It's obviously never going to happen! 

My prediction is that Hinata gets Naruto (I'm actually pretty pissed about her confessing her love for him and everyone acting like it never happened), Sakura gets Sasuke (Karin had her chance, she blew it), and Temari gets Shikamaru. I could go as far as saying that there seems to be something between Ino and Chouji, but it's not very developed and thus might be bullshite...
