Other people trying to sacrifice themselves for her History: As with most Mages who are taken into the circle, Alayne barely knew her parents. She thinks perhaps her Mother was a cook, and her Father a knight, but that is highly unlikely. But little girls take dreams to heart, and she believed that her Father was still on a quest to save her, and she escaped to find him (with the assistance of a few others). A lost little girls scrambled through the streets of Val Royeaux away from the dark visors of the Templars. The little girl was not stupid though, and realised that armed men from Orlais wouldn't be able to move through Ferelden easily, and stowed herself away on a ship to Denerim. There she worked as a scullery maid in an Arl's kitchen, and prayed for the Makers forgiveness, for simply being a Mage. Life was good for a few years she served under a Ferelden cook called Margeret. She was nice and often gave Alayne a taste of the food before it was served. Then the rebellion reached Denerim. Soldiers burst into the Arl's estate, and called the Arl a traitor. Margeret told the soldiers the Arl was upstairs, and they left. She shoved Alayne into the larder and locked the door. Alayne heard the second group of soldiers come in, and they weren't interested in the Arl. Alayne heard terrible things behind that door, things she would have given anything to forget. She hid amongst the food in the larder for several days and only came out when she thought it safe. She saw Margeret dead on the floor, and realised how she sacrificed herself for Alayne. Alayne fled to the Chantry, and became a Lay Sister. She prayed to the maker every day to give Margeret a place at his side. She did her duties and fell in love with a Templar named James. Although Marriage is discouraged to Templars, Alayne left the Chantry and married James, and Alayne was happy. But such things were not to last... Now that the diplomatic situation with Ferelden had settled down, the Chantry hunted Alayne down using her phylactery, something she couldn't understand. They came to her home in Denerim while her husband was there, and even when confronted with the fact she was a Mage, he fought them. Barely even realising it, she used her husband as sacrament to destroy her pursuers. After the blood rage, she realised all she had lost and cursed magic, and cursed blood magic above all. All her life she had only had people give their lives to save her and she had squandered their trust. Alayne went into depression, and fled from her previous life, penniless and without any hope, she was taken into a brothel and served there for a couple of years, almost comatose. A couple of years later a demon woke her, and reminded her she was a Mage. The demon realised her desire to escape, and offered to help her out in return for a favour. Alayne knew of the dangers of demons, and refused the offer, but the demon had reminded her she was a Mage. She had lived her life fleeing from that fact but now she embraced it. She would use her magic to help all who needed it Now Alayne works as a healer for all in the Denerim Alienage Weapons: Magic Stave Dagger Armour: Robes Skills: Basic Primal magic skills Basic healing magic skills Street smart
