Hair Color: Caramel brown Eye Color: Blue Skin-tone: Fair, slightly tanned Name: Yoshioka Mairu Age: 16 History: Mairu spent most of her childhood within the confines of the Yoshioka family's manor, forbidden by her paranoid father from stepping even one foot out the door. After her mother left him, her father had become unhinged and slowly spiraled into deep depression and paranoia. He blamed the world outside for all his misfortunes and found solace only within the familiarity of his home. For years, books were Mairu's only link to the world beyond her window. She read about anything and everything to quell her curiosity, retaining most if not all of the information she consumed. It seemed her eidetic memory had a limit, however. The more she read, the more difficult it was to sort through the information in her head. Fairy tales and world histories blended together, theories became facts, and fiction seeped into nonfiction until they were all but indistinguishable. Mairu's father committed suicide when she was thirteen, and since then, her life took a drastic change for the better. She moved in with relatives who sought to erase any remnants of her father's madness instilled within her. They gave her the proper attention she needed, and although it was thirteen years too late, they tried teacher her basic etiquette. They sent her to a regular school, where despite constant behavior problems, she surprisingly excelled, earning top marks when she didn't skip out on test days. They even paid for a therapist, who continues to work with her to this day. Her social skills were and still are considerably sub-par, but she's making gradual progress. Mairu was on her way home after her weekly session when it happened. After blacking out, she awoke to find herself in a dreary facility called Greeneburg, with others who share her predicament. Mairu took it all in a stride; whatever was happening was a mystery waiting to be unraveled. She was beyond excited to partake, so when the storm hit, she started taking action. First on the list: turn the power off. Personality: They say there's a fine line between genius and insanity. Mairu straddles it like a rocking horse, teetering over one end then the other in a matter of seconds. To say she's eccentric is a huge understatement. Mairu's on a completely different wavelength from everyone else, and her train of thought has so many tracks, it's nearly impossible to follow. Her flashes of brilliance are sporadic, and they're buried between moments of such distinct dottiness that it's hard to tell whether she's actually intelligent at all. She does get results, though. It's better not to question her unorthodox methods, or you'll give yourself a headache trying to understand her nonsensical explanations, but when she sets out to do something, she often succeeds. Mairu's default state is starry-eyed and distracted, and she is 100% driven by whims and curiosity. She lacks self-consciousness and tact, and simply does as she pleases, caring naught whether others deem her actions appropriate. Even though she is nigh incomprehensible most of the time, usually spouting one non-sequitur after another, she somehow manages to unintentionally offend people on a daily basis. Likes: Tea and donuts (but not separately), books, learning about things and people, funny things, listening to stories Dislikes: Boredom, being forced to do something, things that make her sad :(, people with more vowels in their names than consonants (excluding herself, of course) Other: She likes to wears hats because they keep her ideas from spilling out of her head. (also still thinking about the mutant, I'll edit it in a bit)
