Kalinda didn't care which one she was using her empathy abilities on, so when Nicholas grabbed her, she took emotions into her, and then back out to Nicholas, even if he wasn't touching her bare skin due to his own gloves, Kalinda's attack was nevertheless still effective. Or should still be effective. Once more, she didn't need to see them, only feel where they were through their own emotions.
