He [i]has[/i] trained for about two decades with a man who [i]is[/i] Relic-enhanced. The only kind of defensive item that Myth possesses is the gauntlets, and that's more because conventional weapons, such as a sword, can't harm most, if any, Relics, so he'd be able to deflect it off his gauntlet, provided the force of the sword doesn't break his hand/wrist/arm, and if he doesn't just use his sword to block it.

If you want, I can have him more equal to one of lesser training, such as the... well, foreigner. I can't remember the names... Saenong? Saeong? The weaponsmaster from the other place.
