"Sure!" Kido replied as he picked up a ball and racquet before taking the other side of the court. "We can start with the serve. You can't start a game without that!" He stood a bit sideways, holding the racquet out and the ball in front. "We can probably practice a bit before we actually play a game, so let's try this a few times. Hold the racquet out like this, okay? Then raise the ball a bit and drop it in front. After that, just try to hit it as it falls..." 

As he explained, he went through the motions to perform the serve, hitting the ball just over the net. "Mine could probably be better, but that's the basic idea. Go ahead and serve it back."
