And what's the, I guess, rate of attracting? Like did the teachers single him out as a favorite early on, or was it over months/years? And how likely is it that people notice it affecting them? Sorry for the barrage of questions, it's just that Semblance can affect other characters very easily, just wanna know all about it 'fore I approve it. :P

I was thinking orbs or cylinders but the cape sounds more awesome, I was just trying to make it as reasonable and realistic as possible. (note changing to cape, like in image)
As for slingshots yes, he could attract them to him.
On the attracting attention part, I just went back and edited this actually because I realize I didn't specify, no it does not make him more attractive it draws their focus to him. Their temperament at the time of drawing focus stays the same, in other words he has to pick and choose his moments. It does involve some aura interaction similar to BBs and if he over exerts the pull it someone could easily notice it. As for becoming teacher's favorites he used the semblance to pull their focus to him anytime they asked a question he knew the answer to (which in the ordinary classroom wouldn't really register with the teacher) so teachers began viewing him as the student that always knew the right answer. But he wasn't like a favorite from the get go, he had to earn his way their, it was just easier because he had the teachers' attention whenever he knew he could shine.

The main thing on detecting the semblance in use would have to be the situation, if someone was incredibly angry at someone else and then found themselves angry at Nic it would draw attention and they are much more likely to notice. Now if someone is handing out party invites and Nic used his semblance to get them to hand one to him, it would be almost impossible for them to tell.... it really depends on the situation.

I realized I didn't address rate of attraction. The rate is almost instant when activated although this is what it makes it most likely to be caught. Activated in such ways as to draw praise intended for someone else or ire that isn't meant for him will almost be caught, again this comes down to him picking his spots.
