You let me spend god knows how long wrestling that thing and you could just end it with a kick?!?" The energy-based metahuman exclaimed, not believing how easily I destroyed that demon snake with a kick. I was always told, while I played soccer, that I had quite a leg. But this was just ridiculous. The monster just dissolved into ashes! Only God knows how it happened. Oh God. Only a god knows how it happened. How did I not realize it! I already noted that the Owl symbol on my hand had to be something from Athena. Was she doing this? Whatever. I don’t care. I just want to go home and take a nice long nap in my warm bed, where evil demons aren’t chasing after me. I’m just asking for a normal life. Is that so hard to ask for? “Well, this just goes to show how a woman’s touch can solve everyone’s problems.” I cracked a smile under my mask, although the metahuman couldn’t tell because, obviously, I was wearing a mask. I then turned my attention towards the hole that the silver-clad metahuman had created when he first entered into the sewers. Looks like this was going to be my escape route, as the other metahuman had already suggested. I leaped up and climbed into the hole, almost ready to crawl out of that cesspool. However, I thought it would be rather rude of me to just leave without saying anything else. “So, um, thanks for helping out.” I began, “Although technically speaking, I could have handled it myself. Maybe we’ll bump into each other again.” Then I paused for a second. “On second thought, I’m not quite sure I can let that ‘shooting webs out of my butt’ thing fly. That’s so not cool. And creepy. And gross. Do you really think I would do that, even if I had that ability? And you’re complaining about that image being ingrained in your mind. What about my mind? God, that just so, ugh...” I interrupted myself mid-sentence, deciding that I probably should stop while I was already ahead. I reoriented myself so that I was facing opposite of the sewer floor. Then I started my ascent to the surface. At least no more sewers for me. I hope.
