Years of living in the forest had made Daiki a light sleeper. So he kept waking up whenever someone around him got up in the middle of the night to use the toilet or murumured in their sleep. Thankfully for him he managed to get a proper night's rest anyway, and woke early the next morning, in fact he was one of the first to rise. As such he had finished washing up and taken a shower by the time most of the other boys were waking up. He decided to make a final check on his equipment, that his sword belt wasn't worn or in danger of snapping, and took the time to oil and polish his katana properly. Most of the girls had awoken and were up and about, so Daiki wondered when Grizel would be bouncing over to greet him. While he was certain not many of them would pay him any heed if he were to go over and find her, he preferred not to do it at all. Instead, he sat himself at an obvious corner, with a plate of pancakes and scanned for the wolf faunus. He had taken it for granted that people were as disciplined as he was when it came to waking up in the morning, and reminded himself of that when he spotted her still sleeping, and everyone else apparently ignoring her except to avoid stepping on her. He sighed and walked over to where she was sleeping, thankful she was close the edge of the entire area so he wouldn't have to risk seeing anything that might get him in trouble with a girl. "Wake up, sleepyhead." He called out to her, squatting down to tap her awake. She was not a morning person, it seemed. Daiki prodded at her with his scabbard, shook her and got no response. He placed a finger near her nose to make sure she hadn't died. "How do you sleep more soundly than a corpse?" Daiki asked himself out loud, getting a few giggles from passing girls at his comment. He shrugged and resorted to torture then. It was her fault for not waking up. The young man took his last pancake, still warm and covered in maple syrup, and let it fall flat on her face.
