"Come on, slowpoke! This cool night won't last forever!" Lily called down to Matt, making him smile.
[i]Emphasis on [u]cool[/u].[/i] Matt thought. He closed his eyes and concentrated for a second, then [u][b]FLASH![/u][/b] Matt was replaced by a brilliant bird weaved in flames.

Matt shot into the air, leaving behind bright particles of flame. When he reached the others, he began circling them. Unlike hummingbirds and, apparently, Carmen, he couldn't hover in one place.

"Well, yeah. There's a bunch of friendly people here. I guess when you're used to being different from the rest of the world, you get more excited to make friends with non-humans..." Dani trailed off, then grinned.
"Hey hey hey, you sneaky girl! Unearthing my history while I barely know you." he said in obvious mock anger. "I'll be asking the questions from here on out, buster."

Dani thought for a second, then looked over at her, now serious.
"I've heard a [i]lot[/i] of rumors about zombies, but what are they [i]really[/i]? I mean, obviously you're not a lumbering idiot without an arm and the need to eat people." he asked.
