We are still accepting characters.
In a Continent called Feledia, on a country known as Lismos, despite looking much like our Middle-Ages, the country of Lismos is plenty more prosperous than our own counterpart at that time. This is due to the discovery and constant research of Magic. While the study of science has not been stunted (thus leading to several discoveries such as gunpowder and steel) Magic has had a 5000 year head start, meaning that in the society of Lismos and other neighboring countries, Magic is more useful and thus more important than science. In response to the need of society for magic, plenty of countries have established many Academy's in an effort to increase the population of competent Magic-users, known at large as 'Magestrava' or 'Magestravi' in plural. It is estimated that only 1/5 of the population can use magic, and of that 1/5, only half of that become competent Magestrava. The quality and curriculum of each Academy vary, but the particular focus this time is Aledine Public Academy. It is well known in Lismos as being a both a school of ill-repute, and one of the only Academies that teaches regular people alongside the Magestrava. They do not study magic of course, but instead focus their time on general studies such as politics and economics.

This is my RP. Each energy has a specific use, and spontaneous use of it without purpose is known as magic. Magistraava are humans that can access and mold these energies for a specific use. This is commonly known as spellwork or spellcasting. The four units of energy are collectively known as the Maian. They are:
Xi - Physical energy that boosts the power of the body or powers raw spells that interact with the physical world. It is generated from the heart and overuse of it could cause heart-attacks or full-body paralysis[/*]
Sakra - Energy for the mind that is needed for things like clairvoyance, mind-reading and telepathy. It's source is from the brain, and overuse of this Maian can cause insanity or blindness.[/*]
Karma - Nature energy that is required to cast elemental spells. Overuse can cause liquification, spontaneous combustion, petrification, dehydration and others.[/*]
Mana - Known also as Supremes Maians or the supreme energy, Mana has no other use asides destroying the other three energies and recycling them into new forms. No living creature can use Mana without side-effects, as it destroys all the energy in your body. The source of Mana is said to come from the stars, but no-one is quite sure of it.[/*]

Alchemy - The simplest and most straightforward branch of magic. It's focus is on give-and-take relationships between materials and their effects. Students of this branch create potions or enchanted items, usually en-mass. Advanced studies of Alchemy work with living objects, and intertwines commonly with Necromancy.[/*]
Outsorcery - Study of magical energies and how they are used to affect the physical (hence, outside) world. Elemental manipulation, barrier creation and healing magic fall under this branch of magic, as does Teleportation and bodily augmentation, such as Reinforcement.[/*]
Insorcery - Study of magical energies and how they affect the mind (hence, Inside). Mind-reading, Clairvoyance, Farsight, Hypnosis, and other related magics fall under this branch of magic. Insorcery also teaches different ways to counteract and create barriers versus forces against the mind.[/*]
Necromancy - a fairly difficult and advanced branch of magic. Necromancy focuses on the study of magical energies and non-living and living organic beings. Not illegal, but novices are discouraged from practicing it because of the many ways your spells can go wrong.[/*]
Automancy - Study of how magic is used to manipulate non-organic structures. Students of this branch are usually expert magic puppeteers, or fortress or castle builders. A popular branch of magic because of its low-difficulty.[/*]
Pythomancy - Study of magical beasts. Actually not a branch that uses magic, but is still classified as one, nonetheless. Normal students are welcome to take it (provided they are ready for the risks)[/*]
Ouramancy - Study of Supreme Magical Beings (commonly known as Divine Spirits or Gods) and Lesser Magical Beings (commonly known as Cursing Spirits and Devils). Note that this is a rarely studied branch because it takes talents to interact with either Being.[/*]
Akasha-Deviancy - Study of the Universe and how to manipulate it. The highest-class of magic. A theoretical branch only. [/*]

Sepcarim - these are special cases in which a person can manipulate only one of the Maian, so while they technically aren't Magestrava, they aren't exactly normal either. Sepcarim consists of around 2% of the population, so as you can tell, are rare:
Monks' - people who can only manipulate Xi. They are generally recognized by there robust physicality and great strength, Monks typically make excellent bodyguards or watchmen.[/*]
Shamans' - people who can only manipulate Karma. While their ability to manipulate the elements is fearsome it is severely limited. It cannot cause destruction on the same level as normal Magestravi - this is because nature abhors destruction. Also, rather than bending the energy to your will to get a desired outcome, it is more like Shamans borrow power from nature, and it is at their discretion whether or not to give you that power.[/*]
Sykers' - are people who can only use Sakra. They are adept at many things involving the mind. They can see across countries, predict the future, predict who is predicting the future, read minds, cause mass-hypnosis, and even alter memories en-mass. A downside, however, is that Sykers generally tend to be frail of health, as their body is trying to compensate for their abilities.[/*]

On Spells: Spells are created and imagined by the individual. The way the spells work and what it's supposed to do is made in the mind initially, similar to mnemonics in teaching, and the possibility of executing it is confirmed or denied by the knowledge one has plus the basic instinct that all Magestravi are born with - this is also the reason why experimenting with unknown magics is potentially fatal; your body has no precedent to warn you of the dangers of casting. Chanting is a process a Magestrava does to guide him/her safely through the process of casting. Wordless casting is possible, but dangerous. Chanting is like a step-by-step process a Magestrava memorizes so he doesn't have to do to many calculations and double-checks while casting. On Motions: Motions are commonly used to physically direct where certain energies are gathered, and where a spell will form or be executed. For quickly made or complex spells, motions and energy become similar to a potter and his clay; he needs to direct things specifically because his mind his already busy with other things such as preparing the blueprint for the next step of the spell. On Magic Circles: Magic Circles are not really important for spell casting, but they do have their uses. Magic Circles are primarily used for barriers or wards. Magic Circles work kind of like a laptop without a battery; it has to be constantly plugged to an outlet (the caster, in this case) for it to be able to preform. Also, Magic Circles aren't just circles in the RP - they are customizable according to the logic of the user. On Enchantments: Enchantments work by both runes and by modifying the way an object works. Runed items are generally multi-purpose, with weak-to-moderate effects, while enchanted items have a finite lifespan and regularly need to be enchanted, but preform better than items with runes.

* * *
Aledine runs on a merit system. Each student recieves a stipend that they can use to spend anything on. His/her stipend increases depending on how well they do. Of course, while living and food expenses are covered by the Academy, they only do this at a bare minimum. If you do poorly at your studies, expect to be living in a bedless room while eating plain food. If you do well, suffice it to say you can live like a king.

Guilds in this world are large gatherings of people aiming to meet a common purpose whether that is to make money or to explore wider worlds. At Aledine, mini-Guilds are established by the students to meet that very same purpose. More often than not, these 'Guilds' become the actual thing once it's members graduate. Creation of a Guild at the Academy requires permission from the Headmaster first. A set amount of funds is provided for your Guild to use, and increases depending on the results you produce. Badly preforming Guilds are forcibly disbanded. Biography:
Render was born third to a rich merchant family. Back then he was a loud, arrogant bully, and regularly tormented his older brothers with pranks. When it was discovered he could do magic, it was decided that he would attend Aledine Academy. While here, he had planned to simply skive-off and play delinquent, and soon, he was frequently getting into arguments with students and teachers. At around this time, the previous Headmaster gave him a book, and placed him in house-arrest. Angry and annoyed, Render did nothing but rage for days. Eventually, however, he mellowed out, and in an attempt to kill boredom, decided to read the book the Headmaster gave him. Much to his surprise, it was a story book; it was about a child that went to see the world. It described the various thing character saw and learned, and all the wonderful mysteries in the world. For a boy who hardly touched a book in his life, Render was captivated. The book, for whatever reason, started a spark in him, that soon burned into a blazing passion to learn and explore. He had found something he truly wanted to do. After graduation, Render traveled the world for thirty years, gaining somewhat of a reputation - a good one, where he is known for his skills in magic and his extensive knowledge. The exact inverse of what was known about him years ago. His adventuring came to halt when his alma mater informed him of the old Headmasters passing. He came back to pay his respects, and even became a teacher for three years. He was quickly nominated for the position of Headmaster soon after his fourth year of teaching, and he gladly accepted it. He says what he thinks rarely caring about how the other person might feel about it. He is also appears introverted always buried in books or class work, thus he can seem standoffish and cold. He seems arrogant and full of himself as he is quick to correct people or point out flaws in their work. Lastly he is stubborn and driven to the point of near obsession, leading him to be seen as impatient and reckless. None of these are quite the case however, he is blunt because he doesn’t want to wait time, he acts the introvert because he knows his goal is so very far away and he got started so very late, he seems arrogant but only wants to test his knowledge against itself using anything he can as a bound pad. He appears reckless but he is very aware of just how much he can take and is willing to risk short term harm to further his long term studies. He has turned his dream to a goal and made it his life work to achieve it, every day he spends not getting closer to that goal is one more day that proves his father right. He is quick to dismiss those that look down upon his goal, and quicker to lash out at those that try to impede it. Abilities: From his childhood he acquired the skills of a con-man and a pickpocket, leaving him with a good insight to people and better eyes then most, his six month journey sharpened his wits and intelligence and his willingness to push himself to just before deaths door has given rise to a frightening endurance. During the early years of his studies he discovered an innate talent to sense the magic around and within and has proved a valuable asset in analyzing and studying magic. His skills in magic are as well rounded as he can possibly make them skilled in every aspect that he has been taught without a hard preference for any one kind and a thorough understanding of the theory about all the different practiced arts. His studious nature and willingness to pay for knowledge with his own health have hobbled him; he is no longer as fit as he once was and lacks the subtly he was had in his movements his hands still retain their dexterity everything else is a shadow of his prior life. Studying: The short answer: Yes. The long answer: Adam is studying all of it, every class on magic every kind of magic, every course on magic. He is enrolled in them all, as well as a few of the non-magic classes such as sketching and music to keep himself busy for when he can’t practice due to injuries that are still present. Many people view him as crazy due to how much work he takes on at once, even more so when they learn it was his own choice. Interests: Cooking. Magic. Anatomy. Magic. Playing the Violin. Magic. Sketching, mostly landscapes. Magic. Astronomy. Learning. Have I mentioned Magic yet? Dislikes: Weakness, be in in himself or others. Being interrupted while playing his violin or when studying. Sleep. How fragile his body seems. The fact that he has to stop studying to eat. Bringing up the past. Biography: Adam wouldn't be able to tell you what the name of the place he grew up was, for even if he knew it once upon a time he has since discarded that information in his pursuit of what everyone says is nothing but a childish dream, a hopeless goal founded on nothing but unsubstantiated theory. He isn't native to this part of Lismos he grew up in one of the hundreds of identical city slums that exist, for his entire life he has been taught that to get anywhere you have to be worth something, from hearing this said while his drunken father raged at him while home, hearing his sickly mother wistfully hope for the better and curse her lot in life when she didn't know he was there, the other street rats he would roam with, to the guards that would chase after him. It all served to hammer in that only those that are worth anything move up in life. So he has always strived to be something, anything, as long as it served to prove his worth to himself or to others. So he would learn everything he could, he taught himself how to read and write, how to fight or hide, to lie and steal, how to survive and meet his goals whatever they may be. For a long time it looked as if Adam would be nothing other than a criminal when he grew older, his reputation as a delinquent well known and Adam himself was slowly starting to realize this and it was severing only to frustrate him, because criminals as they are only slightly better than street trash, unless they run a criminal organization. So he came to a cross roads in his life, fully embrace the underworld and try to work his way in to a higher standing, use his understanding of that underworld and try to work for the guards or something else. So at the young age of 13 while Adam was struggling to define his lot in life, the key to a different life dropped in to his lap. It was a quiet night, the guards had dropped him off at home, again, his parents was asleep and Adam was up looking at the stars wrestling with what he was going to be doing with his life when it had happened. He had closed his eyes for just a moment, but when he opened them he found himself standing amongst the stars themselves floating far, far, above the his home. For reasons he still can’t recall he struck out at his house and watched as it shattered in to dust and remolded it’s self in to a grand castle. He wandered through the city he lived in shattering and remaking as he saw fit. He made himself kink, eat only the most luxurious and exotic foods, wore the finest silks, and chose who lived and who died. Then as he sat upon a golden throne will everyone he knew bowing down to him in awe he felt frustrated once more, surely with this power he could do more right? At that he felt everything just fade away and he was left with just a blank void but with a wave of his hand that void was filled with everything that could be and anything that he wanted it to be, he stopped looked at his hands, scared and dirt covered, but within held the powers of a God. Who could deny his worth now? He woke with a start drenched in sweat a million things raced through his head as he looked around. He noted absent mindedly the sun was rising before looking back at his hands with a grimace, it was only a dream. Furious he slammed his hand in to the roof he had ended up sleeping on, only to recoil as it encased in ice and shattered at his next touch, once again he found himself staring at his hands. This, this held the answer he had been seeking last night, but he needed answers but for now he had hope and a goal, make that dream a reality, by any means needed. After that incident it didn't take him long to learn what he had done and within a week he had left his old life behind him abandoning his family taking with him only the clothes off his back and whatever money and supplies he could scrounge up or steal before he left, he even changed his name so his history wouldn't catch up to him, this was a chance he wasn't going to mess up. Despite, or maybe because of, his hasty start it took him nearly half a year to reach Aledine Academy but he found it, and even when he was starved and worn ragged form the travels the first thing he said as he stumbled in was "Teach me" Since that day he has thrown himself completely and relentlessly in to his studies working three or four times harder than those in the same grade as him to make up for his late start, he often goes nights without sleep and is a common face in the Hall of Healers due to his willingness to press his limits to the absolute limit his body will let him walk away alive with. When not in class he spends his time either in any of the libraries on the school grounds, or actively practicing magic, thought the where depends on the magic. Equipment: The only thing of note that Adam has is an old knife that he took with him at the start of his journey. It serves as a reminder both to what he hopes to accomplish and from where he came. Extra Information: Adam is fairly well known, despite his insular tendencies, due his borderline insane and unhealthy work ethic. Many rumors float around about him, his reasons and his practices, but he does his best to just ignore all of it. Many view him as obsessed and some worry for his sanity and safety.

Name: Alexander Grove Gender: Male Age(11-19 for students, 22 - above for teachers): 11 Appearance (Pictures are accepted in place of description): He has soft green eyes, with short brown hair that almost looks like it was cut by someone who looked like she had no idea what she was doing. He doesn't wear robes, and instead wears a pretty well off tunic and pants that looks like it comes from a middle class family, not entirely poor, yet not entirely rich. Other than that, he looks pretty much completely normal. Personality: He has learned self-control, self-discipline, and responsibility through poverty, though he still a child at heart. He has a strong moral compass, but also has a black-white-blue-purple morality. Stealing is wrong, but stealing something that is stolen is not wrong because stealing is bad because you're taking something one else owns, but when it said object is stolen, it isn't theirs. And he has also learned of the art of sarcasm and being slightly manipulative, though sometimes he can't help but slightly gullible. He can sit still when he needs to sit still, but other wise, you will often find him running around and climbing on anything he is allowed to climb on. He loves culture, whether it is human, fae, or something else, where it be poetry, music, and so on, but human history can bore him and he is a bit socially awkward around humans, though he is still out going and fun loving. He quite studious and loves magic, but does not work well with strict teachers. He can be highly pressured by strict rules and harsh dead-lines. He also can sometimes rely on his intent ability and intelligence over his learned ability and intelligence. He knows how to read and write in both English and fae tongue, though his English is not the best compared to his fae that is almost like he is a native born speaker. It is rather rusty and when it comes to writing it is more raw academic knowledge of English over practical application of it. Abilities: Firstly, he is an Syker. He has a quite primitive ability of slight precognition and identification. Basically, he will get either visual or audio ques that something is dangerous, misleading, useful or so on. Visual ques normally come in the form of colors, for explain dark red normally means danger, bright red means hot, light green tends to be useful, whereas dark green tends to mean poison or dangerously acidic and so on. Whenever there is danger or something useful that is not in his line of sight, but is usually important to his immediate survival, ping sounds will generally lead him towards said object of interest, normally high-pitched means something bad, whereas low-pitched tends to mean helpful. With his time with the Fae, he has slightly refined this gift, and if he focuses on an object, he can see it through its color system and if touches something, he can normally identify truths or properties of said object, or a person. It has also developed into a very limited magic sense. He has also been trying to learn clairvoyance and clairaudioance, and got to the point where he can some-what reliablely cast those spells but he isn't even good at it and it takes basically no effort to ward against them. He also has an unsophisticated mental ward around his mind to protect him from other Insorcerers or Sykers, however it isn't particularly great and is sometimes just bypassed altogether. Studying (What magic branch(es) is s/he studying?): Insorcery, Pythomancy, Poetry, and Theater. Interests: Animals, The Fae, the Arts, Climbing and Running, Dislikes: History of Humans, Any negative talk of the Fae, Sickness and Injury, fire, Writing in English Biography: : At the very long age of eight, a fire consumed a part of his village, killing off his parents. He was saved when he heard a strange ringing in his ear that he some how knew to follow, that lead him away from the some-to-be fire. The local lord set up a small shelter for those left homeless and even orphaned by the fire, however over all the conditions were very bad. Food was always in sort supply, the place were crowded and everyone, including the children, had to do odd and often nasty jobs just to get by. Alexander would often go into the forest, to search for berries to eat and various things he could sell for pocket change. He had peeked the interest of a fairy who often roamed the forest with little better to do, as she had sense his blossoming magic. Part of the fay took pity on the poor boy, whereas the other half seen it as a golden opportunity. It was a orphaned wizard who was already well on his way to become a strong sorcerer. So, for about of a week of watching him, she decided that the boy needed a parent, and oh-so-gracious and wise her would be that parent. So one day when the kid was searching through the forest, the Fae introduced herself to the boy, and revealed herself as Illiroburcordis Et-Anima or Lily for short. Obviously, wishing to escape to poverty and the horrible shelter he was living, it could of been a bear who gave him the offer and he still would of taken it. Lily did a quite a good job at raising him, if you ask her, possibly better than the shop-keepers that were his previous parents. She made sure he was healthy, and active. She also made sure he was quite well versed in the arts in general and in the culture and customs of the Fae. However, he was cut off from humans almost his entire stay with Lily, and the only social gathers he ever went to were with Fay. So Lily, deciding that it best that Alexander got to spend time and get to know his own people as well as further his magical studies sent him off to Aledine Academy. Which Alexander looks forward to with youthful optimism. Though, as a parting gift, he was given a horse to get him to the academy and two will-o-wisp, who have minor magical abilities in the form of light and healing spells. The horse being named Tempestatem. The two will-o-wisp: Numquid and Inwisp. Equipment: He has his horse, who is a wild stallion that is surpisely well tamed, named Tempestatem. He has two wisps companions known as Numquid and Inwisp. He also has a necklace with a none magical silver coin on it. Extra Information: As a skyer, he bruises and bleeds quite easily and isn't particularly strong, but he is still energetic, agile, and dexterous. He does not get sick often, but when does, it is often enough to make him bedridden and throw up. While Lovedaia has a childlike opinion on most things, is prone to unpredictable bursts of randomness, and does what she wants, she will go to great lengths to fool people into getting what she wants. Lovedaia doesn’t see as what she is doing, when manipulating people, as bad, but as a means to an end. Amongst her qualities, Lovedaia is also ignorant. She doesn’t understand the sufferings of the world, having a sheltered life, and believes everyone should be as happy and optimistic as she is. Many believe she is not “all there” because surely one of her age cannot be this unaware. However, her innocence might just be a cold, hard mask to hide the face of an empty, bored young woman. Abilities: While poor at magic, Lovedaia is excellent at studying and has a great memory. Studying: Pythomancy and poetry because she either doesn't have the control for a certain branch or no interest in the branch Interests: Animals, adventure, poetry, magic, Dislikes: Tactlessness, stupidity, living a normal life Biography: Lovedaia is the daughter of a wealthy blacksmith and a innkeeper at Gralimidine though her parents are now retired and have moved to a different city. Ever since Lovedaia was little, she was obsessed with magic. She kept waiting, with bated breath, for when she would discover her own wonderful magical abilities. When her mother tried to teach her privileged daughter the art of inn keeping, Lovedaia would simply ignore her and butcher her small duties. To instill responsibility, her father attempted to push her to help him clean his tools, she would simply run away until he gave up. Her life was amazing, normal, privileged. She didn’t have a care in the world. Her parents kept her away from the streets, and urged her to stay only near home. Growing up, she only had a few friends, ones made quickly as they passed through the inn, until they left and she forgot them. Lovedaia grew to hate her life; it was dull, boring, and predictable whereas she was lively, talkative, and unpredictable. This life didn’t suit her. So, when she discovered the tiniest spark of magic beneath her fingertips, she was ecstatic. She had been avoiding her chores, hiding in the attic of the inn and playing around with the old framed portraits that her mother abhorred. Whilst picking up a heavy frame with two hands, she tried to grab her ink well with the other to avoid tipping it. Unable to do so at the same time, she breathed angrily in exasperation and slapped the portrait onto the floor, her fingers splaying in the air like knives. With this frustration, came an electric jolt down her knuckles and the ink well lifted the barest fraction into the air, long enough for her to catch a glimpse of it, before it toppled over onto a painting of a fat old guy with balding hair. Immediately, she jumped into the air and tumbled down the stairs, shouting for joy with such exuberance that her parents neglected their admonishments. After that, she was sent to the Academy to study to her heart’s content. It was only there that she realized her magic skill was quite shabby and that no matter how hard she tried, she could barely do a thing. When a situation is delicate, however, she takes time to develop her thoughts and her words before voicing them because she is aware of the risks of doing so. She has a soft heart and will do most anything for anyone provided she can. This does not, however, mean she is easily walked over. At least, that's what she likes to believe... She can be very gullible and shortsighted when it comes to certain things like... love and relationships. She is often far too trusting than she should be and this will more than likely leave her with a few more scars than a young girl should have. Abilities: Billie isn't exactly the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to magic and she more often than not finds it backfiring in her face... and the faces of her classmates. Which, in turn, shows why she is in the lowest level classes with the least accommodating living arrangements. But, she's not willing to give up, not quite yet. She has a few other skills besides magic that at least make her useful. She is fairly adept at hand to hand combat, even if it isn't currently very refined. And, she is also pretty good at getting around without anyone knowing she was ever there. Studying: Alchemy, Pythomancy, and Outsorcery Interests: Music(Piano and Guitar), Hand To Hand Combat, Horse Riding, and Books (Both Fiction and Non, the latter mostly pertaining to Element Manipulation, Healing and Bodily Augmentation) Dislikes: Studying, Class, Being stuck inside, Classmates higher up than her, and charity. Biography: Billie grew up in a town now too far from the school. Her parents were both pretty good with magic. It was the same with her brother. However, she seemed to have missed the family magic gene. She failed most attempts at things that were supposed to be so simple a child could do it. Her brother simply laughed at her and her parents shook their heads in disappointment. In an attempt to prove herself, Billie found her way into Aledine Academy where, hopefully, her magic would improve. She hasn't been here long but so far, the stay hasn't gone very well. It is a leather outfit meant to be used for magic rogues, aka Magistraava that are apt at evading hits, Monk's clothes. Billie, as of yet, doesn't know what purpose the equipment serves her, mostly since she's not the strongest with magic and therefore has no use for a Monk's clothes. Though, the outfit could be useful for hand to hand combat as it leaves the wearer agile but protected.[/*]
Billie has a necklace from her mother. Aside from the massive scar on his face, he also has another that goes across his entire left hand. Attire-wise, he refuses the traditional robes and whatnot of the Academy and prefers clothing of his own design and make. As such it's quite easy to notice him, since he sticks out like a sore thumb in the midst of crowds. Personality: Veili is a bit of a wild individual… that is putting it lightly. The words delinquent and punk have been used to describe him a good many times, and sadly enough they are more often on the spot than not. He is hot-headed and can be easily riled up, but do so with the assumption that he is a fool and you will find yourself paying. Despite his seemingly reactive nature, the boy possesses a sense of cunning that makes him problematic to deal with as he actually, to many people’s surprise, takes his time to think. Generally to the detriment of others, but hey, sometimes that brain gets put to good use. Yes, Veili does have some good points as well. He can be very passionate for one thing, putting forth a sense of drive that would surprise anyone who’s only seen his outward persona. Well… unless it involves fists flying since fights are one of the things that make Veili’s blood boil. That aside, he also has a rather fine eye for detail and can be meticulous at times. The sad thing is that these positive traits only really manifest themselves when it comes to Veili’s interests. Everything else is almost exclusively dealt with with his outward persona. There is one good thing that holds true for Veili in almost every circumstance though. Surprisingly, he is not one to hold onto grudges and is actually rather good at letting go of things. Given his brash attitude, it’s not easy to tell that’s the case, but such is the truth. Abilities: All Magestravii are born with a basic instinct that needs to be supplemented by learned knowledge in order to properly spellweave lest they injure or kill themselves. While Veili is still bound very much by the same rules, his instinct seems to be exceptionally sharp. Whereas other Magestravii would spend hours pouring over information to safely weave a spell, Veili is a fan of “winging it” and more often than not succeeds, if only partially. Even in the occasions where failures occur, his instincts have saved him from the worst case scenarios. It’s not only his instinct as a Magestrava that are good though. Between the number of scraps he has gotten into and testing the weaponry he forges, Veili has developed a fairly good instinct for battle as well. He understands and can wield a myriad of weaponry acceptably, although his skills are all completely self-taught and thus somewhat lacking. “Weaponry he forges?” Why yes, aside from being a Magestrava, Veili is also known to be a weaponsmith, and one of upcoming talent. It is one of his few passions, and though he does occasionally forge pieces traditionally, he uses spellweaving extensively for the majority of his creations. Alchemy and Automancy grant him unparalleled control over the material he works with, while his studies in Out and Insorcery give him the ability to go further with any enchantments he may laden the completed piece with. Studying: Alchemy and Automancy would be his “majors” while he also “minors” in Out and Insorcery for the purposes of enchantments. Pythomancy is a hobby of his as well, if only for the materials that could be gathered from such creatures. Interests: Metalworking, brawling, eating and drinking, making a pretty penny (surprisingly), and even reading (shocking!). Dislikes: Scheduling, formal studying (slightly suicidal, yes, but it hasn’t killed him yet?), formalities in general really. He moves at his own pace, finding it hard and an annoyance to conform for the most part. Biography: There would have been no way for anyone to guess that Veili would take the path of a smith in his life, much less while also being a Magestrava. His family, simply one of the numerous middle class doing their best in life, was quite unremarkable and easily looked over. As an only child, he was never really lacking in material needs, but even at a young age it became clear that Veili needed something more in his life. The problem started off small, being easily distracted or simply losing himself in something others just couldn’t seem to see, but it grew worse the older he got. Veili grew up as a restless and, almost seemingly, agitated adolescent. It was maddening that no one, not even himself, could understand what was wrong. All he knew was that there was something missing in his life, though what it was he could not figure out. It was no wonder he could hardly stay still with such a sensation eating away at him every day. While he might have been quiet and solitary as a child, the wrongness he felt changed him. Easily irritated, highly reactive, and unafraid of violence. Time to think was time to brood, and so Veili became rash. He acted without thinking more often than not, and it was around this time he became known as a delinquent and trouble maker. His parents had good reason to be concerned, but with them Veili tried his best to hide his problems. He placated their worries as best he could, trying to hide the fact, and it was undoubtly a fact for him by now, that there was something that was off about him. Maybe it worked, or maybe the two of them just saw their young boy trying his best to grow up. Whichever it was, they supported him to the best of their abilities. And though he was violent, Veili was never cruel. His fights never escalated to more than a street brawl, and there was a fine line in the sand that he never crossed. The same could not be said for some of the targets for his ire though. There was only so much some people could suffer before they turned to more drastic actions, and for a few individuals, getting kicked into the dirt for months on end did just that. Although, in hindsight Veili is actually grateful to them. He would have continued trying to find that perfect puzzle piece if it weren’t for them.
“His ears caught the sound of metal being unsheathed. “Fuck!” The other boy’s grip tightened, as if desperately trying to hold Veili still for just a few more moments. His anger peaked, a furious snarl twisted his face, as for the first time he felt the urge to simply hurt all of them as badly as he could. His fist smashed into the boy’s face, and with a sickening sensation he felt something crush underneath the blow. From how he reeled back immediately, clutching his eye and screaming in pain, Veili felt a fleeting sensation of guilt. That was quickly dismissed by the glint of steel coming right at him. ‘Shit.’ Footing wouldn’t let him back up enough, nor was it stable enough for him to block or deflect the stab. All the while, the knife’s tip neared dangerously. “FUCK!” Roaring his anger, Veili trusted his instincts and reached forward, catching the blade in his hands. He felt the sharp edge bit into his palm, parting his flesh smoothly, but it was not pain that he felt first. The image was formed, the rush felt, and reality twisted. All in a moment, and in the next Veili ripped the knife from the other boy’s hand; the blade now a simple lump of twisted metal. And despite the large gash on his hand, despite the red that dripped from his palm, Veili wore an almost rabid smile. This was what he had been missing all the time… He was a Magestrava, but the realization paled to the sensation of being “whole”. He might have whispered a, “Thank you,” that was hardly heard, but... The town heard the other boy’s screams of pain well enough.”
After the incident, Veili was in a precarious position. While he did have the right to self-defense alongside his position as a Magestrava now, he had also maimed two other boys. One had lost his eye completely, while the other’s arm was a mangled mess that could barely move anymore. Even his parents, who had always tried to support him, weren’t able to fully take his side. Thus, it was decided that it would be best for him to leave the town and head for Aledine Academy. He would need to go to further his education as one of the Magestravii anyways, and it would serve to rid the town of his presence. He was disappointed to say the least. The feeling of being “whole” was dulled by the loss of his home. Though it had not been said, the message of him not being wanted was clear enough. It hurt, more than he let on to anyone around, but at the same time tempered his personality. He learned from that experience, and sought to become someone who would be able to step back into his home without shame. Quickly enough, Veili learned that the traditional methods of study for Spellweaving were not for him though. The act of reading through text after text on the branches he chose to study was painful for him, and more often than not he would simply skim and then attempt. Which flew right in the face of what almost every instructor emphasized, but that was how Veili chose to roll, so to speak. He advanced at a frighteningly fast pace thanks to that reckless method of learning, and though it was not without incident, the ends justified the means. By the end of his first year at the Academy, Veili was already a capable weaponsmith and bending metal into weaponry from the confines of his room. And that expertise only continued to grow as he expanded his knowledge and skill base. Where he worked with common steel, more exotic alloys grew to become his material of choice. Weapons of superb craftsmanship saw the etchings of runes eventually appear, and these runes grew in complexity and diversity with the passing of years. Though he is technically of age to leave the Academy and return home, Veili sees more to the path he can continue to take. As such, he remains at the Academy to further his skills and see just where they can bring him. Equipment: Oh boy… Veili has a downright impressive weapon collection to his name. Knives, bows, polearms, and even some more exotic weaponry have him as their creator. His two favourite weapons are a pair of blades that go by Reavers. They are relatively plain shortswords, about two feet in length each, with serrated edges nearing the hilt. They are inscribed with numerous runes, new additions, that provide protection against both Out and Insorcery. By funneling mana through the blades, one can generate a protective barrier, while the other insulates him from attempts at Insocery against him. Extra Information: While Veili has little issues with his Alchemy and Automancy classes, his other subjects are fairly lacking. Nevertheless, he has little issue monetary-wise thanks to his profession as a weaponsmith. His creations aren’t exorbitantly expensive, but still fetch a hefty price.

Has an cloth eye patch on his left eye. Stands 176cm tall. Name: Danny Finks Gender: Male Age: 17 Personality: Danny is a calm and collected individual, the person who watches from the sidelines until he feels the need to step in. Due to past experiences, he has a weak mind which is easy to shatter, but has a good understanding of his limits. He is constantly monitoring his mental stability and avoids any unnecessary tasks. To sum it up, his cerebral resources are scarce and must be used to only certain extents. He doesn’t have the best reflexes, and is most definitely not physically strong by any means, but he makes up for it by his abilities in comprehension. Though he can’t think too deeply into matters, he can analyze a situation when it presents itself to him. Also, he feels the need to repay those who nursed him back to health, he unknowingly became interested in medicine and other forms of healing. Abilities: Danny specializes in both clairvoyance and mind-reading, but because of his past experiences with his abilities, he refuses to use the latter unless it is truly needed. Upon the discovery of his capabilities at a young age, he has been training to hone his skills. His ability to read one’s mind was so structured, that the noble which took him in was able to employ the child. Currently, he mainly studies spells to improve his magic with clairvoyance, and tends to stray into telepathy. Though, with the amount of time he has put into his main abilities, adopting a third skill proves a challenge to him. He has a mental ward which denies access from most above average insorcerers, but those who have been training in the art for years find it easy to bypass it. It’s not as if he has anything confidential or important locked up inside of his head, the ward serves as a warning to protect those who might wander into his mind. The memories and feelings he experienced when his abilities caused his mind to short-circuit, would uncontrollably flow into the trespasser. Either than his studies in magic, he’s a surprisingly decent cook, taught by the elite chefs which worked in the castle he used to serve in. He has also been studying medicine and herbal remedies in his spare time. Studying: Insorcery, Art (Painting/Sketching) and dabbles in Pythomancy. Ironically, those who possessed the ability to wield these tools were rare within the town. The whole area was governed by a noble whose homage was located in the center of the community. A majority of the income went to his reserve, which was dumped into whatever project he saw fit. He wasn't a ruthless tyrant, nor was he an alms-giver. The villagers seemed to have always been on the fence, but rather than falling to either side, they were able to balance perfectly on it. Because the villagers never really voiced their opinions and ideas for the community, this lifestyle continued as per the usual. One morning, Danny’s father just up and vanished. He didn't know much of his father, as he was always at work to support the family, and didn’t come home until Danny was fast asleep. The man did not leave a goodbye note or anything for the boy, yet his mother wasn’t surprised by the turn of events. For some odd reason the boy could not deduce, she wasn’t saddened by her husband’s departure, and already had an ultimatum thoroughly planned out. Both Danny and his mother were employed as servants within the noble’s castle. Even though there was no pay, it meant that they would have a roof over their, food to eat and a place to call home. His mother was always tasked with cleaning and upkeep of the noble’s and his family’s clothing, meanwhile the boy was a young waiter who served food to guests. After two years of service to the family, Danny’s mother passed away while she was in the middle of cleaning the windows. A maid had found her body leaning against the pane, her mouth was agape and she had a blank expression painted on her face. Her hands were clenching her chest; with this fact, the family’s personal doctor deduced it was cardiac arrest, but was unable to determine the cause of it. Now the boy, at the age of twelve, was truly alone in this world. He still served as a waiter to the noble, since he had no other way of going about his life. Within a few weeks, Danny began to experience unexplainable phenomenon. He began to hear the thoughts of those in his general vicinity, though they were choppy and unclear at times. To a youngster such as him, he believed some form of monster was wreaking havoc upon his mind, and he quickly pleaded for the doctor to help him. The man specialized in alchemy and was one of the town’s few magicians, he was the only person who could explain it to the child. At first, he believed that the boy was going insane or that something had snapped within his brain. But after multiple tests, which consisted of Danny verbally repeating whatever popped into the doctor’s head, it was concluded that he had some abilities in the art of insorcery. At his current state, his abilities were uncontrollable and would occur at random moments. The doctor provided the boy with parchments to study, which he divulged a lot of time doing so. It wasn’t long until the noble found an even more profitable use for the boy than having him as a young waiter. After spending months of balancing training and serving, the noble offered a new job which would give Danny more time with the former. By this time, the boy was able to listen into complete thoughts, if he was able to complete the correct movements and cantations. The noble who governed the village had meetings with companies and traders on a daily basis, those who wished to purchase the valuable resources of the land. Danny was able to fulfill his task during meetings, under the lie that he was the noble’s “adopted” son. To the buyers, he just appeared as a child playing around with a toy wand, muttering under his breath. The boy’s job was to determine the buyer’s base price for the resources he was intending to purchase, then he would inform the noble so that he may determine a more negotiable and profitable price. This continued on for two years straight, it became the daily grind for the young magician. As time went on, the boy began to feel sick and strained, yet the man just told him to shake it off. After the noble closed up the last meeting of the day, he decided to allow Danny to dine with his family. As he was about to bring up the subject, he noticed the boy was hunched over in his chair, his hand was tightly covering his left eye. The child was breathing heavily, beads of sweat trailed down his face. The noble grabbed the boy’s arm and yanked it away from his face to get a complete look, he then reeled back in surprise. The eye was completely discolored, tears were streaming from it. The boy let out a ear-shattering shriek then passed out, the noble personally rushed him to the doctor’s quarters. After half a week of slumber, Danny finally awoke, he groaned out of pain and tried to focus his lone eye. Before him was a beak jutting into his line of sight, accompanied by white feathers and a pair of round beady eyes. The bird was small, roughly the size of his stomach. Its layers of feathers were pure white, a small orange beak protruded from its face. Surrounding him were four individuals, draped in cloaks of extraordinary colors. After sorting out his current matters, Danny was informed that he would be attending a famous school which teaches and trains many magicians, known as Adeline Academy.
