Nadeline put her hands in the air, as if signaling defeat. "My apologies, I will not question it again." She smiled, though she placed one hand on her hip, the other on her chin as she thought carefully. "There will be no room for error. One mistake and your grandfather's efforts will be for nothing--as will our lives. We go in, get Emi, get out." She nodded, more to confirm her own thoughts. Yes, they would get past this, as always. They were all going to get out of there together. This was just another test from the gods, one she was determined to learn from and get through. "Wesley, Jaakuna, now more than ever, I will be counting on you both." ------ Grant half expected as much. Good thing he wasn't counting on her or anything, he pretty much figured he was doomed either way. He rolled his eyes, Vincent acted like that had actually mattered. The moment he had him arrested he knew Vincent would be an enemy. Truly, this was all a game to him. wasn't it? Grant wasn't amused, nor could he share Vincent's sense of humor. He let him talk, knowing it would probably be more bullshit--until he mentioned Emiri. Apparently, once he was done with her, he'd kill her. He was in disbelief, and he had stood up as well. He wanted to yell, to hit him, beat him to a bloody pulp, but no matter how much he willed it, he couldn't even move. He slowly sank back onto the bench, defeated. "Truly, you play to win." He managed to say. ------ So it was true after all. Emiri let out a sigh, rubbing her arms slightly. Michel seemed amused by this, but she didn't really care. No, she actually found herself caringmore about Grant. Why? Maybe because as soon as she heard that, she recalled their time together. Those moments of silence in the library, the times he would duel with Nadeline, the days they would spend sitting in the gardens together. She didn't love him, but the truth was that they were friends, and she didn't want to admit that. Maybe that's why it bothered her so much. He was still an asshole, but he didn't deserve to die like that. Gods, why did this have to happen? She could have gone the rest of her life not knowing about him, and now she felt like her entire world was shattered around her. "He's just...an old friend." Emiri replied quietly.
