And here's another RP - 4 Toy Story I know what you're thinking "Can I play Buzz Lightyear?" It's not that Toy Story This is a scifi story about war and survival mixed with an exploration of the meaning of life The two protagonist are a pilot Mech/Starship type who is paired with an Android who by definition loves them. Romantic, Platonic and Selfless are the possible types but in the end all three mean that the Android puts it's human companion first and will give up it's own existence to guarantee their companion's life. [Hider=Toy Story]Siren Robotics was primarily a manufacturer of pleasure model androids till one of their developers invented the Triplex CPU system creating a droid which was suddenly able to blend three personality matrixs into a single adaptive one. This allowed the Delta type to be autonomous from inception and activation. Designed to be the perfect companion system Delta's three brains each handle a different aspect of environmental interaction. The brains are coded Logic ( left breast), Emotional ( right breast) and Spurious Logic (center of the chest behind sternum) Spurious Logic is where the Primary personality is located and where the results of the secondary brains information is filtered through a Spurious Logic buffer to create the personality presented to the world. This series was so popular on their release that Siren Robotics had to license out production to other companies to keep up with the orders. Soon Deltas were performing jobs in almost every field of endeavor in which mankind was engaged. Then they came, mankind had barely stepped beyond the bounds of their own system when he was attacked. These Aliens were huge and the technology was unstoppable; that is till they encountered the Passing Fancy. The Fancy was only an asteroid mining ship and should have been squashed except for the fact that Citizen Rhinehart her Captain had made a few additions. The Fancy was a pusher type ship that located valuable roids an pushed them on orbit trajectory to be caught by Jupiter's gravity where there were other miner type ships that paid the pusher a share for the mineral rights. Well the exercise of pushing was one so complex that many ships spent 8 to 10 months plotting a flight course that system control would approve before they could even start the prize on it 2 to 5 year journey through the system. The Fancy bypassed this with a modified Triplex brain system that could plot the course in days. Fancy also served as the ship's XO and her Captain's companion. She was and still is a special girl. It was during a deep sleep cycle as the Fancy moved across the system that she began hearing disturbing reports of a strange craft attacking mining ships so she altered course for the swarm which was a deadly place where small but hyper fast roids circled in large arcs a small planetoid named the Egg. System control trying to scramble some form Of defense saw the Fancy enter the swarm and thought she'd be as destroyed as the others of the fleet in her sector. What happened next was so confusing to sys control that they thought the ship had gone insane. The fancy seemed to be randomly shoving rocks in the swarm rather than attempt to flee the enemy ship which was baring down on her. Fancy flew so random a pattern of flight in what appeared her last moments that her captain suffered gravity bruising. Then what she had been up to bore fruit when heavy nickel iron roids began rebounding off one another like billiard balls in a trick shot contest. The enemy ship so certain of her victory over the fancy never saw nor suspected the shot that killed her. She was dodging the nickel iron roids without ant trouble when two struck two rock types causing them to shatter into a thousand pieces. Those pieces acted like buckshot from a shotgun and peppered the enemy ship so badly it was dead in space. The Fancy was called to syscon and interrogated and when it was discovered that Fancy an AI with no military programs had stepped outside of her known programing and defeated an enemy that till then was considered unstoppable the brass was stunned. Suddenly all triplex systems were declared critical military assets and confiscated. The enemy ship was taken and it's systems studied an copied as well as improved in some areas. Mankind was in it's very first interstellar war. Young men and women were drafted into the military and while in standard training tested with most found wanting. All but point five percent of humanity had the necessary mental speed, durability, make up and mind set; they became Companions. Companions are the elite of humanity, their names whispered with awe by the school children an some adults of earth an the system. They attend a grueling school that has been known to retire some students as vegetables. After two years of abuse and effort each Companion team is assigned to one of the many defense branches [/Hider] [Hider=RP INFORMATION]Think Tanks These are special combinations of Triplex CPU systems that uses 9 Triplex CPU that are programed for special uses. They can be found in Industry, The Military, The Diplomatic services, Research an Development Labs, The Sciences and other places were massive data crunching an collation are needed Confederation of Races The Confed is a large governing body made up of hundreds of Races but is primarily run by three races listed below. Set up like earth's UN but with greater power the Confed keeps the many races from being constantly at one another's throats or committing genocide They discovered humanity in the Hessian system which is about 30 parsec from earth and managed to avoid conflict with the unusual race Humanity. At first the discovery that we were not alone as expected was jarring to the human race as a whole. The military at first handled all contact with the overview of the Social services corps till it was decided by the combined military an social think tanks that earth needed a xeno-diplomatic service. The XD as they are called in official circles has their own dedicated think tanks and personnel; they are responsible for all negotiations with the Confed. The Confed it was found was having trouble with another group of extra galactic origins which it simply called Them who raided in what appeared to be a random manner. It was quickly revealed by the combined efforts of the Military, Social an Diplomatic think tanks that the raids were not random and were in fact predictable. These think tanks predicted that the next raid would happen in a human controlled system. The Confed feeling at that time superior to the Humans choose to ignore the prediction leaving the Earther's meager military forces as the only defense against the next attack. Using battle plans drawn up by the Military think tanks the Earth forces waited ready till the raider forces appeared in the predicted system, in the predicted time and with the predicted force strength. Even with such information at it's disposal the Earth forces still had to fight a desperate battle which would have been lost were the think tanks not there to supply the winning tactics. :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Confed races B'larch - a race that appears human in many ways except for natural skin an hair colors which range from bright green to blue skin and bright neon colored hair. They are tall an slender standing a uniform 6 foot 4 inches on maturity with little variation. The B'larch are the highest tech race of the Confed and seem to also be interested in humanity on honest curiosity tainted by the White Man's burden Sanva - a reptilian race of large size (Some are 16 foot tall) that are vegetarian an herd orientated and the longest lived of the Confed. Some earthers say they resemble Iguanas standing upright. The Sanva are the most benign of the Confed races but have the most powerful military. Quint - a race of Hairless albino monkeys with prehensile tails The Quint are a tricky race enjoying putting anyone they may at a disadvantage to themselves. It is this trait that makes them hate the think tanks because of their ability to see through the Quint plans[/Hider] RP -5 Aberrant This is the world of the Nova's, a place where it is becoming common to see people flying through the sky or exhibiting abilities that at one time were thought to exist only in legend or myth. You are a Nova who has just discovered they are one or have been a Nova for some time now and belong to one of the factions. Back Story In the Aberrant timeline, in 1998 the space station Galatea exploded in space. As most people figure it, radiation fallout from the explosion somehow caused various people around the world to erupt as novas, individuals with the ability to manipulate the four universal Quantum forces. Nova Nova is a term used to identify the super powered individuals using the vast power of the Quantum in the Aberrant game line. They differ from baselines physiologically with the Mazarin-Rashoud Node set between their frontal lobes. For most novas that is the limit, however through Taint and specific mutations and/or powers their physiologies can differ more from the human norm. [Hider=Mazarin-Rashoud node]The Mazarin-Rashoud Node is a small spherical gland, roughly 1cm in diameter, situated between the frontal lobes of the brain. It is the primary and most easily identified difference between novas and baseline humans. The node itself channels quantum energies through an undefinable process. Researchers have identified that some nodes are better at channeling energies than others, and have defined six different power levels, or instars. The most common expression is a 1st-instar node, proceeding up to the least common (and most powerful), the 6th-instar node. The node was discovered by doctors Henri Mazarin and Farah Rashoud in 1998. They received a Nobel Prize for their work in 2003.[/Hider] [Hider=Taint]Taint is a form of radiation, a byproduct of the use of Quantum. It is "natural" for novas, and can even be beneficial. However, it is unnatural to the rest of the world. Novas Taint buildup within novas is common when novas over-extend their powers, or desire to learn a new power more quickly (i.e. getting an experience point discount). Taint, throughout the Nova Age, is generally considered to be a bad thing due to the random physical and mental mutations it engenders. In truth, however, Taint is the key to a nova's evolution. Properly channeled (via the Chrysalis) a nova may avoid mental aberrations entirely. In exchange, they get more frequent physical aberrantions, but they may guide the development of these. A nova who sees himself as a representative of God, for example, might choose to become more physically perfect, and perhaps to manifest a glowing aura or halo, or even a set of wings. However, such novas grow further and further away from baseline humanity, as their thought processes become more and more alien.[/Hider] Novas gain powers in their moment of Eruption. This process starts in moments of immense shock, and for a few short moments allows the Nova to gain the full power of Quantum. However, the human conciousness cannot take it for long, so subconciously it creates powers that are easier for the mind to understand. Usually these powers and their effects are chosen subconciosuly in the short moments of Eruption. Allegiances Aberrants, a small, relatively new group (as of May 2008) of novas who are trying to expose the corruption inside Project Utopia. Project Utopia, an organization founded by the Æon Society to study and to help novas. Team Tomorrow, a series of "super teams" created by Project Utopia to help demonstrate the epitome of Utopian ideals. Project Proteus, a secret group within Project Utopia whose agenda is the study and control of the "nova" phenomenon by any means necessary. The Teragen, a group of novas who believe that they are as far above humanity as humans are above apes, and should not be held accountable by human law. The Directive, a secretive multi-national government agency who stand as humanity's self-appointed protectors against "novas", whom they consider a growing threat. Corporate/Government/Other, are those individuals who are affiliated with a Corporation, a Government or the individual is part of a group that is not listed above. Independents, are the individuals who have no greater allegiance than themselves. Various other minor allegiances exists, with regional agendas or common goals around the world. By decreasing her skin and clothing's friction Cypress is so slippery that she is able to skid across a flat surface at great speeds her movements resembling more those of an Ice skater then a sprinter Her skin and clothing in this state can even deflect kinetic energy attacks such as bullets, swords, knives or even liquid attacks. If she is caught in a trap or stuck in a bind, Cypress can just slip away. Inertia Manipulation- This ability allows Cypress to manipulate inertia, basically the amount of resistance matter has to a change in motion or rest, increasing, decreasing and/or maintaining it. She can increase object’s inertia, to make an immobile object immovable, or to make a mobile object unstoppable. They can also reduce an object’s inertia, so a normally powerful object, such as a train, could have its course of motion interrupted with the same effort as would be required to stop a bicycle. Also by manipulating inertia Cypress is able to simulate super strength but only in a horizontal plane. Example: She could once she plants her feet push a stranded Super tanker back out to sea but she can only lift 250 pounds vertically. Drug and chemical immunity- due to her exposure Cypress is impervious to the effects of drugs an chemicals (Limitations- to exercise her inertia control on objects other than her own person requires that Cypress herself come to a stop there by making her a stationary target.) That flooded her entire town Cypress was barely alive. Her father a Swedish merchant sailor named her Cypress after the tree they found refuge in. Rescued three days after she was born it was a miracle she survived. Her father, mother and 78 members of the community she was from all died of chemical poisoning within a week. Now an orphan Cypress was remanded over to the family and children's services where she exhibited a high degree of intelligence but a skewed sense of morality. It all came to a head one day after being bullied by some of the older kids when she was 9 years old. That night after careful planning and preparation Cypress doused her two tormentors with salt water after using two prepared extension cords as conductors and defeating the room's breaker. The two girls where hospitalized for three weeks after the incident and require therapy to this day. When confronted with her brutal crime Cypress did not evade her responsibility but neither did she show any remorse, in fact the foster parents reported that they'd never observed her so happy. Her display meant that the social worker had no choice but to send her to a psychiatrist. Cypress was put in resistant at first but within a short period of time she seemed to respond to the treatment Placed on mood stabilizers and forced to perform for the county mental health professional she managed to fool them into believing what she wanted them to. For nearly three years Cypress kept up the act of being what they wanted of her till she discovered her awakening ability. She kept up her act till she thought she was ready and escaped. There are many rumors about what she's done over the past seven years but little evidence to confirm any of it. What is sure is that she's been highly trained in the use of her abilities by any of the darker groups out there and whether or not she works for anyone is unknown [/Hider]
