Rayden saw that his shots had some effect on Dresden,but when he disappeared into the smoke,Rayden kept his guns trained on the mist,waiting for when the elder vampire would come out. As a group of survivors made a break for it,he didn't try to stop them. They wouldn't last long anyway. His suspicions were confirmed when he heard screams and the sounds of limbs being torn apart. When Matt reached the car and grabbed the crossbow,Rayden said to him calmly,"Make that shot count. You might not get another chance". Never taking his eyes off the mist,Rayden watched as the crossbow bolt streaked off towards an unseen target.
