Maya - hallway - Angelo, Bart Maya looked at the man cautiously. She bit her lip. What choice did she really have? Either let this man try to fix Bart or let Bart break down and die. But this stranger could always shut Bart down and attack her once she had no protection. A loud hysterical laugh in the distance made her decision for her. "Come on," she told him. "Follow me. Quickly." She led the way, with Bart following, down the hallway and into a cross section of tunnels. She knew her way around the labyrinth maze of tunnels, she had explored them multiple times. She at least knew how to get somewhere relatively safe. They climbed onto the underwater train and rode it to Pauper's Drop. Getting out, she led the stranger past the diner and the red light district. There were a lot of dead hookers lying around, pieces of human body parts everywhere. They climbed what seemed to be an endless flight of stairs, up and down numerous corridors and reached a hole in the wall. It was large enough for Maya and the stranger, but not Bart. He groaned in protest. "Go around Bart," she told the large metal man. "I'll meet you at home." She waited until he had turned away to beckon to the stranger to follow her. She led him through the gap between the walls, climbing down in places where the floor had collapsed. It would be difficult for anyone to follow her unless they knew where they were going. Finally they ended up at some kind of storage room. "I have to come through this way alone," she explained. "No one would follow a Big Daddy, no matter how crazy they are." Inside the room was a makeshift bed on the floor, some boxes that served as storage and tables, a safe that was missing the door with packets of food and bottles of water stacked inside and a small bench that had bits and pieces of parts and tools spread over it. "I tried to fix him myself," she explained, waving a hand at the tools. "But I don't know how. Bart is my only friend here. He protects me from the Splicers. He'll be here in a few minutes, he had to take the long way around. Just keep your distance from me. He doesn't see you as a friend yet, but I'll try and fix that once he gets here. He doesn't want to hurt you," she added quickly. "He's just protecting me. He thinks anyone who comes near might want to hurt me. And frankly, most people here do." She peered at the stranger. "You don't look like you've been down here for long. Where did you come from? How did you get here?"
