[center]Background: Ben was a typical teenage kid living on the west coast. Both of his parents had good steady jobs, and were able to shower Ben (their only child) with attention. On his 14th birthday, however, all of that changed. [/center]

[center]He woke up in the hospital nearly six weeks later with a brand new metal plate in his head, a set of new scars on his body, and no parents. Most of his parent's savings account went into saving Ben's life, but now Ben had no inheritance and no future. With no other relatives, he went into foster care. After a year and three sets of foster parents, he decided he wanted to be alone for a while. So he packed up his backpack with whatever he thought he needed and started walking. Two years later, he made it to the east coast and the Open Road's Shelter.[/center]
