Lan Sherman is a 22 year old Chinese-American woman known for her sweet nature and exceptional healing skills. She grew up in a broken home. Arguments was an every-day ordeal, her parents shouting matches only ending when one of them left the house. Lan ended up as the unofficial caretaker of her twin brothers as her father fell into alcoholism, leading her mother to spend even more time away from home.

Lan discovered her powers after one of her brothers got into a fight at school, leading him to get home with a black eye and a bloody nose. Her own surprise and fear was quickly overshadowed by the excitement of her family, and she found herself called the Franklin Healer. Over time the fame got too much for her and she grew uncomfortable asking money from desperate people. She moved away from her home town and found herself joining the League, adopting the codename Orchid.

The healer isn't all that comfortable with using her powers in public and is easily spooked by others with superpowers. This is why Lan tends to avoid field-work. She prefers to stay in the Hall instead, rarely venturing outside her comfort zone, helping hurt heroes in the hospital wing. This is why the meeting and eventual partnership with Shifter is somewhat of a mystery to her, even if she's glad to have met the shapeshifter. In all honesty, she still isn't sure how she was able to take down the villain Silverclaw considering she has no offensive abilities.

It's difficult for some people to imagine Lan and Petya as friends. Lan prefers quiet nights to partying, and while she isn't as quick to show affection so openly, she has an easier time creating deeper, more meaningful relationships with people. She prefers honesty to lies. If there's something they have in common, it's loyalty. Lan trusts the League and all it's members, almost to a fault.
