Miles fell to the ground, out of breath. He watched with curiosity as the man held his back against the wall. He then turned as he heard Karah crying and freaking out about what just happened. Miles couldn't believe it either, but he was better at holding it together. He silently thanked his dad for showing how to keep calm under pressure. He moved next to Karah and held her tightly. He let her vent her feelings without saying a word. Suddenly he felt her get heavier as she said she wasn't feeling good. The man looked at them and began walking down the hall, motioning them to follow him. Miles let Karah put her weight on him and helped her hobble after the man. "Hold on." Miles said, stopping in his tracks. "Why won't they just break down the door? How do we know we're safe here? Why should we trust you?" The man stopped walking and turned to Miles. "First and second question." The man said pointing to the door frame. Miles' eyes followed the man's finger. As he looked he saw strange symbols drawn all over the walls and the door. He didn't know how he had missed it before. "Third question." The man said smiling sadly. "I can't answer that, but I think you'd rather be in here than out there." The man turned and started walking again. Miles looked at Karah to try and get her input, but she was looking pale and was barley responsive. They followed the man to the back of the building. The campus security building was fairly small. There was the main lobby which they just left. They passed by two offices on either side. One of which looked like a make shift holding cell. In the back of the building was a small room with no window, but had four small beds in each corner of the room. Miles laid Karah down and put a blanket on her. The man handed Miles a bottle of water. Miles poured a small sip of water in Karah's mouth. She swallowed weakly and smiled at Miles. "Are we safe?" She whispered. Miles touched her cheek with his hand. "Yes. Get some rest." With those words Karah laid her head on the pillow and drifted off to sleep. Miles went over to the other bed where the man sat. Miles extended his hand. "I'm Miles and that's Karah. Thank you." The man shook Miles' hand. "Name's Van. I'm just glad there's a few normals left." Miles sat down next to him on the bed. "What's going on here?" Miles asked. Van sighed heavily. He turned to Miles and began to tell him everything he knew. Apparently Van was from a community college a few miles over. It was a Theology heavy school. About a month ago Van said he started to notice strange things happening on his campus. Just people acting weird, nothing solid. Soon, people started dying. Not more than one or two a week. Van was taking a demonology class and everything that was happening and how people were acting fit into a case study Van was doing. "I started connecting the dots, and everything was adding up to...to." Van paused and looked down sadly. "A demon uprising." Miles' face went ashen. "I don't know exactly why it's happening." Van said standing up and pacing the floor. "It could have been a summoning done wrong. It could be restless sect of demons." Miles interrupted Van's train of though. "So all those people, are demons?" Van shook his head vigorously. "Not full demons. Just controlled by them. There's probably one or two actual demons in human form, but everyone else is just possessed." Miles fell back on the bed. "Right now were' safe in here. Those markings will keep any demon influence out. I just don't know where to go from here." Van said looking at Miles hopefully. 'If we're safe in here." Miles started. "Let's just get some rest and regroup tomorrow.
