Zmerr awoke to the sound of voices. They sounded really close and very human. But they were too emotional and relaxed to be Chipped. Zmerr pulled himself out of the bed . He tip-toed through his home, being quiet so as not to wake Ren up. He picked his way to the shelf and took the scanner. He found the button that would allow him to give it a command. "Go outside and make an image of what's out there." The machine blinked twice to let him know that it understood and the hovered almost silently out of the room.
