Decisions made under emotional duress tend not to revolve around rationality and self-preservation ergo it's entirely feasible that they "walked off" to save their families. However, regardless of what the TWD canon indicates, we already have enough soldiers in this RP. Any more and the idea will quickly become trite.

I'm not sure if your last remark was a snarky jab or a good-natured joke. In case it was the former, that sounds like a false dichotomy to me. You can have an interesting and complex character without them being yet another experienced badass from the army. In comparison to the idea of [i]even more soldiers[/i], fried chicken warriors sound quite entertaining and original.
