:: Dungeons and Discourse - A Philosophical Dungeon Crawl Roleplay :: Those of you familiar with the wonderful Dresden Codak comic or, better yet, the subsequent spinoff roleplaying universe will probably know where I am going with this, but for those of you who aren't, here is the basic premise: The world that this story takes place in isn't like the one we know. No, it is a world of concepts and ideas, a world where metaphors are literally true. It is a world where one might encounter such beings as Darwinian Demons, Schrödinger's cat or Jungian Shadows, a world where one may venture deep within the confines of Plato's Cavern, or explore Davy Jones' proverbial locker... Wield such items as Ockham's Razor or Damocles' sword as you make your way through the world of Deixis.. Essentially, in the setting of this role play, you will be playing the role of a philosopher in a world where all metaphors are literally true and peril lurks in every corners... The empires of Logos and Ethos continue struggle for dominance in the ever-lasting conflict between faith and reason, while trouble lurks in the proverbial north. Keep your wits about you, for this is a world where everything is true and nothing is to be trusted... :: A few things to keep in mind: :: +While it will be inspired by the roleplaying universe, it will most certainly not be he same, and players are permitted, nay, encouraged, to participate with their own ideas and concepts. +Although some degree of philosophical knowledge will be useful, this roleplay is open to anyone who wishes to join, and can actually prove to be a surprisingly effective learning tool for those interested in learning more about the subject. +As of now, the plot isn't currently set in stone, and people who wish to contribute are more than welcome to do so. I aim to make this story as open to input as possible, despite not being a sandbox. +Players will be free to make whatever sort of character they can imagine, from an irreverent cynic or a dreamy existentialist all the way to a stern utilitarian or a an eerie transhumanist. Both western and eastern philosophies of thought are welcome, though the current plot will take place mostly in a western setting. +This roleplay will be of High Casual/Advanced level, and thus will require a rather decent level of writing. While I don't expect an encyclopedia out of you at each post, I'd expect a least a few paragraphs out of everyone involved, except during conversations of course. Players are encouraged to write collaborative posts in events including multiple characters. +Bear in mind that nothing is truly set in stone in regards to the roleplay at the moment, and that every suggestion counts, so don't be shy, participate. +Most importantly however, have fun. :D (PS: For those interested in learning more about the source material, here are a few links: Here And here. :D ) (If this actually hits off, I will be very thoroughly surprised...
