I have a few questions; 1. To what extent is magic in existence and usable by humanity?2. Are those Makitherin weapons supposed to be more like the swords from Game of Thrones where they're just better quality and reknowned, or do they have magical properties and capabilities? Furthermore, would I be allowed to have mine somehow be a specialized warship, or at the very least superior armament upon one?3. How advanced is naval technology during this time period, are we looking at later middle ages with Carracks and such in existence?
1. I did plan in fact to cover this today in a short introduction in magic of this setting so I will answer this in an hour or so properly. 2. Makitherin, or Star Metal weapons, are in fact much superior to common steel, think of it on the same level that adamantine in D&D is better then common iron or steel. They have some unique qualities aside from reportedly being unbreakable and never rusting, in that they can cut through almost anything. (you'd need quality like that for cutting through dragon scales.) As a side note, on the topic of the Makitherin weapons, I'm also thinking each will have a minor enchantment unique to each weapon, something like a war hammer that is as light as a feather for those of the house it belongs, but being beyond heavy for anyone else. I call them weapons rather then swords as to open up weapons to things aside from a sword, like spears, daggers, hammers, etc. As for your houses weapon being a warship, I was planning these weapons would be more like ancestral weapons passed down the line as a sign of rulership, rather then mini super weapons. As for armaments, it would depend, keep in mind these weapons were made almost over a thousand years ago, (in a time the races of Men were just learning steel weapons) if it was a warship it would be way behind the times it would be rather outclassed. Which brings me to the next topic. 3. Good question, naval advancement has been shaped very differently then our world for a variety of reasons. Due to the fact the continent has few real islands off it's coast, and only one other continent has ever attempted to invade (and even then only a total of four times spread out throughout the ages, only two of these incursions have been during the reign of ht Phoenix Throne), war galleys are the premier ships of this time period for naval engagements, with advance sailing techniques mostly resembling those of the 11th century. Long distance trade uses cogs with the more impressive and advanced Carracks not being invented (yet) in Elydan, mostly due to a complete lack of the need for a true deep sea ocean going vessel. Needless to say I'm sick as shit. I'll try to stick around, but forgive me if I'm not as active.
Damn man, sorry to hear that, I hate getting sick. x.x Hope you feel better soon. ^.^
