Blizzard watched- unclear as to what was taking place but it seemed to be the means of a cure for Ava. Or at least his mother seemed to think so. He recognized the object, for in that brief attack he staged against the mani he had grabbed the horn and plowed the larger dragon to the ground. How hard would it have been to snap it off then? His mother nudged into him, obviously trying to push away his current thoughts with gestures of reassurance but he considered himself to be fine without it. He wanted to see Ava better so despite her efforts, he kept his gaze on the healer. This was probably why Aurora licked him like she did and in some ways it did deter him as he immediately took to swiping away the saliva.

While he was doing this the pair had left and hurried after them, nearly slipping on the ice. Valka steadied him before he could fall and he continued his run towards the chief’s house. 

For a moment Hiccup thought she might begin to cry with the force she was clutching to his front but then understood that she was relieved and he felt himself tremble because he had never fully let the gravity of it hit him. Landing on that island and finding Ava as still as death after he had forbid her from going on that journey… her eyes clouded and unseeing. His insides twisted and for a moment he just held tight to his wife. Letting himself calm as well. He watched Castiel’s gestures as she affectionately stroked their daughter’s hair as if any moment she might wake from a pleasant sleep. He met her gaze and matched her smile mere moments before the healer returned.

Toothless had watched the family, resting beside the bed as the minutes ticked by. The return of his mate was not unexpected or untimely and he greeted her with a purr as she let the woman off her back. Knowing what was desired of him he approached with purpose and with measured flame heated the powder with a steady stream until it was dark and ashy - the room smelling of sweetened soot. He picked the bowl up as Aurora had and carried it over to the bed, nudging it near Ava’s nose so she would inhale the fumes.
