Your restricted to the already existing ship-types, unless someone invents something.

btw ship types

Runabout:Small fast Airship
Frigate:Medium sized ship for taking down Runabouts and guarding the bigger ships.
Transport:Larger Airship with few weapons, but is quite capable of transporting around troops faster then by air
Dreadnought: Large airship bristling with weapons, slow, but is hard to take down
