I did have another idea about how he got his guardian so I'll edit the history and change that. Is it alright if the Fire Tamer at the circus gave him an egg that later hatched?

As for his fire shapes it's mostly animals and things he saw in the circus however it's also grand flashy spirals and balls and similar things that would entertain.
