I might of word that wrong. But, I would like the see the map and 'how to handle this RP'
If you need to see a rudimentary map: I do however have yet to re-draw it to the acceptable conditions. But based on the information I wrote out you may be able to insert and figure out what's going on. Cuba being Q'ba and all that. As per how it'll be handled: I'd like that discussed because I haven't figured it out either. One way I could see this going is a sort of "you get a ship and its crew" method or even some sort of mission to explore, convert, or planting flags in the name of whichever applicable faction it is you choose to serve. Me being me though: there's always the chance to sort of evolve your way through. An ambitious conquistador of your state's choosing may at the conclusion of his adventures manage to assemble a following big enough to theoretically begin his own colony and become a governor all his own, and everyone being so far from Europe that basically means you're free to go to war or do whatever you want, so long as its in the name of whichever crown you serve. I could always restrict this to where we're more-or-less ship captains, but I want something that's a bridge between the "standard" in Roleplaying and NRP if there's to be political elements beyond laying waste to a European ship if you're a Muslim Captain or a European Captain laying waste to a Muslim ship if you're in the area. Or simple piracy. I also like to think I'm opening a sandbox up. But in the end it depends on what we - the community - can decide at this stage.
Would a notorious barbary pirate lord equivalent to the likes of Francis Drake be acceptable?
Sure, don't see any reason why not. This region is just being carved up politically and assets are just moving in. And given the situation I imagine there'd be a certain feverish dash to the New World. Not really for wealth, or just for it: but sectarian competition. How dare the Saracens get a leg up when some Europeans are just as capable, if not far less distracted? Same with the competing Arabs. Given I believe I mentioned Cordoba and Morocco both are paying off privateers from Tunisia to give the Genoan and Venetians shit, that could be a thing if a captain is willing to take the raiding out of North African waters.
