I kinda agree with Sable, in particular since you are just out of high school & heading into college (hoping that atrocious writing in your post is just laziness for your sake). Why get tied to someone not physically there when it is time for you to explore the new adult word around you. 
Again it's different for everyone but you might regret it or end up cheating or being cheated on. Depends on the situation of course but I'd avoid it unless both of you could visit every weekend at least.
