While not technically threatened from their position in the northwestern part of the US, the Directorate reminds them a lot of Emperor Arcturus Mengsk’s Terran Dominion. When Raynor is unavailable, his second in command, Matt Horner, takes over. Military Capabilities: Raynor’s Raiders are equipped with technology that put them on equal footing with the Terran Dominion back in the Koprulu Sector; Ravens, Crucio Siege Tanks, Thors, Banshees and other gear. However, until a method for adapting the fuel pumps and systems of the more advanced vehicles is secured, Thors rarely see movement except from storage to storage and Banshees are grounded to save on vespene fuel sources. Fire bats already have a converted fuel source and rebuilding the cold fusion reactors for the CMC-300 and 5-4 suits are well underway, so manufacturing and/or maintaining them are of little issue. Despite being one of the smallest forces on the planet, their military is strong enough to hold it’s own against a larger force if necessary. In his youth, he was taught outdoor skills such as hunting and shooting by his grandfather, skills which would later prove useful as a marshal. The first eighteen years of his life were spent entirely on his homeworld, working on the farm. Raynor was good at both schoolwork and working farm equipment, and learned how to drive multiple vehicles such as the vulture and became an expert demolition player for the Centerville team. His father taught him how to brawl, and to stand up to bullies. Raynor would later say that his father taught him where to draw the line, rather than to take a stand. When he turned eighteen, he enlisted with the Confederate military to help fight in the Guild Wars against the Kel-Morian Combine. He served in the Heaven’s Devils and after the war became the Marshal for Mar Sara. When the Zerg attacked a few years later, he joined the Sons of Korhal when the Confederates abandoned the outer colonies to their fate. He stayed with the SoK until their leader, Arcturus Mengsk, murdered out an entire planet and called it Justice and abandoned the love of Jim‘s life to the Zerg. With the fall of Tarsonis and the rise of the Terran Dominion, so rose Raynor’s Raiders, which fought against Mengsk and his dictatorship with zeal, lended by the enduring spirit of Jim Raynor.
