Well, that's why he's going to 'dig' into its body. I'm sure Faunus strength and his powerful claws will aid him with this excavation. Kuhaku's looking to do as much damage as possible and hollow-out the internals of the mech. 

Plus, since this RP is based on the RWBY universe, logic kind of already flies out of the window. I mean, the RWBY team was able to effectively disassemble a mech and literally cut it to pieces.
