Describe the System: Led by a technical elite where the decision makers are selected only from those most knowledgeable in their respective fields. This council of sorts is represented by a figurehead who is designated through bi-yearly rotation. Presently they are led by the scientist-aristocrat Louis Hargrave. Location on Map Desired: Somewhere with a mountain range for reasons that will shortly be obvious Capital: Mt. Korvos. Important Settlements: - Mt. Korvos is the most developed of the New Dawn's settlements, functioning much like a Victorian era arcology built into the mountain itself. It is the seat of both the nation's government and the Cult of the New Dawn, its ideological counterpart. - Mt. Vengerov is the second most developed after Mt. Korvos. With Mt. Korvos already handling all of the needs of their society at peace, Mt. Vengerov was designated as the main site for the nation's needs for war. It is home to their largest skyport and the bowls of the mountain are packed from end to end with weapons labs and factories of all kinds, as well as the largest training facilities and barracks the nation has in its possession. Description: The nation has its origins in the New Dawn, a utopian movement that first appeared to the public sometime around a century ago. Heralding the creation of a society that would breed a superior strand of mankind through measures such as eugenics, it spread its way through fringe elements of the scientific community and other intellectual circles, with whom its goal of disposing of the old order and replacing it with a fresh and, in their eyes, more capable elite, resonated. Somewhere along the line, the movement accumulated cult-like elements, particularly the worship of an obscure god, recently rediscovered. This god, embodying struggle, the destruction of the weak and the ascendancy of the strong, fit with the New Dawn's world view like hand in glove. With their creed starting to gain too much traction, it was shunned where ever it had manifested by an increasingly fearful populace. It would have very likely ended here, had it not attracted the attentions and support of some rather wealthy benefactors, who arranged for the establishment of a new, secluded nation where the adherents of this strange new belief system could freely, and without the interruption of those they perceived as lesser, cultivate the new wave of humans they had aspired to foster. After rallying the devotees of their creed from across the land, they began their retreat from the world and into obscurity. This model society of theirs where they could conduct their religious devotion to self-improvement was established in a remote mountain range. After decades of prevailing against harsh conditions, they soon etched out a nation quite unlike any other, built on and within the mountains, criss-crossed with railway lines, the peaks crowned with ports for their air fleet. There their isolated and compact society thrives, free from any constraints as they cast aside the weak and undesirable, maintaining only those fit for their world. While they are very far away from their end goal of superhuman perfection, if such a lofty goal is even possible, they have succeeded in cultivating a nation abundant with talents of assorted kinds, particularly in scientific fields. Their military also follows this trend, consisting of only a small force of soldiers that nevertheless display high degrees of professionalism. The bulk of their power is found in their sky navy, where the nation's scientific minds are fully employed for exploiting and testing the boundaries of this new variety of warfare. Societally self-improvement, skill and knowledge is valued above all other things. Strength of mind and body are at all times strived towards. Entertainment and cultural life is sparse, with joy through mastering whatever vocation interests the particular citizen being ingrained instead.
