I'd wager that twilight, knowing the potential dangers Discord would present as the world fell deeper into its current state, either sealed or up and smashed the stone statue. Or perhaps she is trying to find a way to harness it's power, or perhaps discord is hiding and waiting for an opportune moment to strike. We will see how the game progresses one way or another.
