Oh my gosh, I had something similar happen in that campaign! I had my character become a vampire (which turned out to be a horribad idea for a druid) and she later found a triad of sentient weapons that she distributed to the party. One was a crazy hatchet that could mind control its wielder into getting it blood, and when they refused to kill other party members it would make them chop of their own fingers. Blood for blood kind of thing. XD
