I don't think that having Allies in the acronym is bad. In fact, the term allies is the best thing to use in a college/university LGBTQ club to prevent bigoted whiplash from happening. Boston College--internationally renown catholic university--has their LGBTQA club titled Allies. It prevents those who run that school, the ones who are entirely anti sexuality and gender spectrum, from shit parading on those kids. The school already gives them crap for their identities in the first place, and prevents them from having safe sex education programs, so I think that them needing to have Allies in their title and abbreviations is a red haring compared to the bullshit they already put up with just to exist as an organization.
