Nations are using soldiers who come back over and over again to fight again, fight fight fight. Several lifetimes given to fighting, because you've died and lived again, just to die and live once more. After dying, a person would no longer be their true self. No longer a true human being; just an organic machine with a thinking mind inside of it, planted in it like a USB drive. To have men die a dozen times over for the same cause, in the same war, for the same purpose, with very little progress, it is insane, inhuman. Would it not be cheaper just to have used robots? Mass-manufactured entities that can work seamlessly in sync, without any questioning of orders. By dying, you ARE a clone. You're not the real you; you're just a copy. You're a clone anyways, regardless of whether it's uploaded real-time, as your mind develops and expands, or when you just 'save' it. I don't see what you mean, because by dying and being Rebirthed, whether from the last moment of clear conscious or the last moment you uploaded before the battle, you're still a clone. It doesn't change; one is just a copy of the real person. Then a copy of that copy. Then a copy of the copy of the copy. All the way until either the war ends, or there are so many copied versions of you that have lived and died that you cannot be copied without seriously corrupting what's left. Planetside 2 has a good setup for the respawn system, to make it realistic, of sorts. But it also presents severe moral issues. Why not just clone the best of each class? Just over and over, give them the knowledge that their sole purpose is to serve their nation, and then just send them in floods or teams. Hell, when death becomes so disregarded like so, then why not just have rushers? Where all they do is run straight into the fray, firing and firing, until they fall down, where they wake up again, transport to the front, and then do it all over again.
