This sounds like a lot of fun, so I tried to make a CS, if I did something wrong, please tell me. Learning is important.

Name: Darren “Playback” Chater

Age: 17

Gender: Male

Appearance: Darren is from Scottish heritage wears a baggy jacket, black dress pants, a plain white t-shirt and a loosened tie. His hair is grimy and brown, usually hidden under a trilby, and needs corrective eyewear to see well. His black golf-gloves are sewed into his skin and he usually wears red cloth shoes. He’s around 5’7 and slim but looks bigger because of the baggy jacket.

Personality: Darreb is cocky, often rude and doesn’t respect people he feels take the world of sounds for granted. He also can talk for hours without saying anything, usually as a distraction to steal from people. Darren loves sound and the musical genre “sound collage” and enjoys every second of non-silence since he gained the ability to hear. He’s a self-described “Audiophile” and very proud of it.

History: Upon birth, everyone is a unique combination of elements, for the most part births are a joyous occasion, full of memories and the birth of a new soul to the world. Darren Chater was born deaf and the one thing he always wanted was to hear. His parents were supportive of him, but fought when they were alone. Out of a feeling of guilt and shame, he ran away. He started pick-pocketing for cash and hoped one day to have enough money for an operation. Much for his luck, he ran across an add for a trial experiment by a group of scientists, if it worked, he might be able to hear again.

He dreamt of the days when he would sit around and just listen to music, to know more about it than just the vibrations it emitted, so he signed up and went in for the operation.

The experiment was simple as Doctor Valentine had been studying the audial system all his life, but due to the unrest in the world, funding would never come. But if Valentine was able to cure the deaf with his experiment, maybe someone would pay him to equip their soldiers with this new type of sound combat. If XLR cables could combine with the audial and nerve systems, it could make the body a deadly weapon, one that might be able to emit and manipulate soundwaves into invisible weaponry. An entire army of people shooting invisible bullets, no one would stand a chance, and what a thrill to find someone who was so eager to be a test subject for the slight chance of getting his hearing back.

The operation day arrived and Valentine went to work on Darren. He inserted cables and fused the fibers with his spinal cord along with a few to his nerves and brain. The cables entered from where his spine met his hip bones and exited through his wrists. The doctor then sewed gloves onto his hands with tiny speakers in each finger. The last step was to put two hard drives and connect them to the XLR cables to allow the wearer to record and use audio, since he’d net to figure out how to utilize live soundwaves. Finally, the procedure was over.

“Darren...Darren?” Darren opened his eyes in shock. He could hear, but he was in pain, more pain than he’d ever experienced before. His body was rejecting the operation. Valentine had to work fast, his future was on the line, so with no time to anesthetic, he cut open Darren’s back and fused more of the cable to his audial nerves. Darren let out a scream of pain, then everything went quiet, until he heard the scream again, but from his fingers as he shook the operating table vigorously, breaking the restraints. In a panic he rushed out before the good Doctor could fix his mistake.

As time continued, the pain lessened and Darren not only learned how to use his new power, but also how to make barriers with soundwaves. It wouldn’t be something to aid him in robbing a bank to get the operation reversed, but it might be useful to someone who needs someone that can become an impervious meat shield.

Skills: The mutation mainly made his reactions quicker, he can move with spilt-second precision, but he can’t run fast or up walls, it’s only usable in short bursts. He also is a pretty good pick-pocket.

Powers: Music Manipulation. More specifically, Darren has the ability to create barriers using soundwaves/audioforms. Since sound bounces and ripples outward, to keep a barrier going, he must constantly harness and manipulate the sounds he uses, almost like he’s playing an invisible rhythm game. But, he can only use recorded sounds or music and he feels using the same song or sound twice is “cheating” and refuses to just use one waveform over and over again. He also can use the waves to remove small, light objects from places, such as bullets from people who have been shot. He can record any sound, dialogue or song and play it back for his own manipulation, hence “Playback” being his nickname.
