Alice Her eyes stared at the young, white haired, man, and his black friend across the pond, while her mind was far away. She was contemplating if she had the courage to end it all by drowning herself in the pool. After a few moments of deliberation, she decided that she didn’t. She would panic, and force herself up for air, and that would just defeat the entire purpose. She couldn’t overdose on the wolfsbane in the tea either. There wasn’t enough to kill her, only enough to make her sick. Besides, she’d have to fight someone to get enough tea to kill herself and she’d lose against everyone in the compound. There wasn’t enough strong material to hang herself either. There was plenty of weak material that would break if she put her weight on it for long enough, but nothing that could sustain her long enough to be strangled to death. So that was out of the question. So far her best plan, and her only hope, of freeing herself from this curse was to pray that when she turned into a monster she got so violent and vicious that they had to kill her. But from what she had seen of the Chapples, they were at best going to subdue and trap her when she became an abomination. This thought brought a bitter smile to Alice’s face, her eyes still staring at Velganos but not seeing him. I’m already an abomination. One of the monsters. No transformation needed. She had long since given up on the idea that her sister was going to find her. Hope had given way to despair, and despair had given way to resignation. Of course Emma wasn’t going to find her. She didn’t even know where she was, and besides, Emma had seen her get bit. Emma was probably just trying to rebuild the farm, giving her up as an uncontrollable monster. She had distanced herself as much as possible from everyone. She didn’t want to get to know them, to become friends with them. She didn’t want to get to know what their lives had been like before becoming monsters like her, and she certainly didn’t want to tell them what her life had been like before all this. Because in two days time, who knew what would happen? She could kill one of them. They could kill her, or they could kill each other. So she isolated herself, and planned how she would kill herself, if she ever got the courage to do it.. An outcast among demons. Emma Thump. Thump. Thump. Emma slammed her fist on the door to the Hunter’s base, calling out as she did so “Let me in! I’m here to join up with SOHNS.” She heard an exasperated groan from behind the door, as well as a few curses. “I know you’re in there! Just let me in and this can be all over with!” She didn’t pause in her yelling and harassing to consider how she looked. A relatively young woman, dressed like a man, carrying a sword and a crossbow, and wearing a man’s armor , knocking on the door to SOHNS, shouting about how she wanted to join the group. Stories were already being spread about her, in only the five days she had been here, and none of them were kind. But, frankly, Emma didn’t care. She was going to find her sister. And then after that…she’d figure things out. But first she had to get into SOHNS. Thump. “Open u-“ She began to yell again, when the door was suddenly and violently yanked inward. A rather cross looking man, with claw marks going down the side of his face, yelled back at her. “Just leave! Shut up and leave! We’re not going to let a woman join, so you might as well go home to your family and learn to be more of a lady and less of a whore playing at being a man!” In response, Emma spat in his face. She never even saw the slap coming. One moment she was getting ready to yell at him, the next, she was on the ground, the world spinning around her, and a fiery pain blossoming on her cheek. She missed the beginning of his next words. “-this that we don’t let women join. Go now and-“ She didn’t let him finish. “You don’t get it do you?” She snarled, staring up at him from the ground. “Let me try and explain it again. There is no home. There is no one to teach me to be more of a lady. Hunters burned my home to the ground. A Lycan killed my parents. All I have left is my sister, and I’ll be damned if a son of a bitch like you is going to stop me from learning how to get to her and save her. So, are you going to let me join, or do I have to stand out here another five days?” Her speech didn’t have the desired effect. The man simply shook his head and returned inside, closing and locking the door behind him. Emma picked herself up, and walked back to the door. Thump. Thump. Thump.
