Implicating that I am stupid is the same thing as me calling him an ass. So I'm not apologizing for it. 

And yes, it IS kinetic energy. 1: It radiates heat, light, and sound, and they are all in motion. 2: "Kinetic Energy" is the energy that is produced by motion. Electrical discharges are kinetic in nature since you get the energy by from the electrons being in motion. Without either the sharing or the transfer of electrons, you just have inert molecules.
