The Great Gnoll war took place 23 years ago when one intelligent gnoll formed all the raiding tribes of the gnolls into one destructive army. After the harassment and eventual destruction of a few nomadic Ash skins settlements around the city of Dashash, The First Star, Hevi Deprash, declared a state of war. Soon after the declaration Hevi recognized that Ashtokens neighbors to the south, House Marrow, were being invaded as well and he opened relations with the now allied House. Together the combined forces of the two houses created the Eastern Alliance, and they promptly beat the Gnoll forces back into a bloody submission with little loss of their own forces.

However the gnoll armies proved to have qualities of plasticity, as they kept reforming, regrouping, and then re-invading, causing the war to last nearly two years. Eventually the specialized Ashtoken guard was deployed to hunt down and retrieve the head of The Gnoll Chieftain, ending the gnolls ability to regroup. Directly after the swift decapitation, Gori Lamillur, aged 20, Commanded a large portion of the Ashishian army as one of the youngest generals ever appointed, and with his forces he ended the war in one final battle of strategic genius. It is recorded that he tricked the Gnoll Horde into a double envelopment, sealing their fate in the bloodied sands. 

After the war, the Eastern Alliance was written in stone, and the two houses remain close allies to this day. However, shortly after the war Hevi Deprash died in his sleep due to his old age. Shortly after this the Council of Six elected Gori Lamillur, Token(hero) of Ashishia, as the new First Star at the age of 22, making him the youngest ever appointed once again. This election further increased friendliness with House Marrow, as Gori was well known in Alabast as the young general who had fought with their king, and became a role model for their prince, Osmodeus. 

The aftermath was in Ashtoken favor, as the plunder taken from gnolls, as well as the reclaiming of lost farm lands caused an economic boom and golden age in Ashishia, only to have new trade relations with House Marrow and Whitebane further fan the golden flames of success. First Star Gori Lamillur now presides over one of the greatest economical stretches Ashishia ever experienced, as even 23 years later, they still feel the gold fill the coffers of Loashti and Shi'iti.
