Howdy, Anyone interested in a cooperative based nation RP set in the middle era of the Roman Republic? Details are sketchy, but I am thinking that things will go as follows: Each player takes command of a legion. This legion will be their "nation", as such, and they will be able to name it and detail their preferred troop types etc. The general of their legion will be considered as their character, with lesser/secondary characters (if wanted) to represent the lower ranks of the legion. The Senate (controlled by me, to begin with), will dish out orders to the players. Orders will mostly be military-based, requiring players to take their legions to an area and conquer it - or to drive off an invasion. As the legions build prestige through achieving their given missions, their commanders will gain political recognition and favour with the "mob" (the people of Rome). After a while, successful generals may be appointed position of Consul - a kind of short term king - and will then take on control of the Senate and dish out the orders themselves. As the generals continue to impress and achieve, they'll be allocated more legions by the Senate. I would stress that this RP will be light on the history, to allow for maximum fiction. You do not need to be a professor in Ancient Rome to take part, but I do ask that you familiarise yourself with the army of the time, at least on a basic level. I will be able to provide a map, to show Rome's progress, and will also pitch the players against historical enemies (Carthage, Gaul, Pathia etc). So what do you guys think?
