Kijani woke up with a yawn, stretching slow. Last night with Connor had been fun. They had gone to a small Italian restaurant that was worth the long wait. Kijani had gone home with a full belly and leftovers that could last the weekend. Once she was clean and dressed, she pulled up a piece of music on her computer. After pressing play, she shut her eyes and simply listened. The music flowed over her, and when the song ended, she got up. Her clothes were very basic. A t-shirt and bike shorts, no shoes. She'd pushed everything out of the center of the room to create a dance floor. She hit play again and then let her body do the work. It was nearly effortless, something she didn't have to fully think about. Perhaps if she hadn't been born with her powers, she would be going to an art school instead. -- Devika was outside early. She'd met John in the gym for her usual exercise. Then she settled out underneath the trees for her daily meditation. She had to double her effort. Everyone on campus was excited about the talent show. While excitement was pleasant, if she took in too much of it, she got more shaky than a caffeinated coke fiend. Today would be hard.
