Steve held his smirk as she gave her response. "In that case, there's this nice little diner called Rudy's. Open since 1934... Its not the fanciest place but... it has the second best apple pie I've ever tasted." Steve said with a nod. He said second best because the first was made by the very own Sharon Carter. He gave a small glance over at the woman, giving a smile and nod, something that would look natural when giving advice on where to eat, but it also meant other things. He wasn't sure why they were being told to go to Fury's office together, but he was sure he didn't figure out about them. They were too careful about it. She was an espionage agent, and he was a super soldier. They knew how to keep something like this a secret... Whatever it was, it wasn't about them. 

The elevator door opened, and he let Sharon go first, but then he heard the shot crash through the window, and Sharon scream. He instantly drew his shield, kneeling down next to her, and his eyes scanning the scene behind him. The glass shattered, and he traced the imaginary line to where the shooter might be. He saw it. The reflection of a lens. The shooter was still there. 

He heard Sharon scream at him. She was fine, grazed luckily... but it took skill to shoot someone in an elevator. Why did he miss? "I'm in pursuit." He responded to her, and with that, he took off for the stairs.

He missed. The images were coming back. A train, a shield, him holding on for dear life... and he missed his kill. He should have easily done it. He started to pack away. If he wasn't going to kill one target, he will finish the main objective. The Winter Soldier took his case, slung his other rifle over his shoulder, and made his way for the stairs.

Steve Rogers burst through the stair doors in the main lobby, knocking over some agents. Whoever this shooter was, he wasn't going to let him get away. He shot his (secret) girlfriend. He wasn't going to let that slide. His shield was in one hand, nothing in the other. He didn't bother to carry a gun in S.H.I.E.L.D. HQ. He burst through the main doors, slid over a car with ease, and burst through the locked metal door with all his weight. The man who shot Sharon was in here. 

He ran up the staircase. Killers wouldn't take the elevator in case it was shut down. He leapt a few at a time, and then as he looked up, he saw him. A man wearing a mask over his mouth, his eyes covered in black makeup to shield the glare of the sniper. He wore a black combat suit, and his arm was robotic. The sight was rather horrifying. They stared at each other for a second, and then he took off through a door.

Steve ran in pursuit.

"They were shot at when walking to your office!"

Nick Fury and Natashia Romanoff left Fury's office, rushing for Sharon. "Carter! Where's Rogers? What happened?" Fury called, glancing at her would, and at the building across the street. It was obvious Rogers went after the shooter... He just hoped that it wasn't who he thought it was.
