Nick Templeton was still in awe of his new surroundings. Sure he had lived in New York for almost two years, but when you're living on the run going out and sight seeing was not something that one readily did. It had a way of conflicting with that whole laying low thing so staying out of the public view was usually a good idea. In the last 48 hours Nick had not only received a Presidential Pardon, but he was on his way to live in the Avengers Tower with some new roommates which suited Nick fine because another downside to living on the run; relationships weren't exactly a great idea either. He had finally gotten to see the Statue of Liberty, been to the top of the Empire State Building, saw that store Macy's that sponsored that Thanksgiving Parade that his family liked so much, and finally got to ride on the Subway. He wanted to go to Coney Island but Director Fury told him some other time. He said that maybe he and Thor could make a day of it since he hadn't been, but there were times it was hard to tell when Director Fury was kidding or not for Nick but when Fury rolled his eye and shook his head Nick knew fury was kidding. He had already met Thor his mentor once and even though he sounded like he should've been with the Knights of The Round Table Nick found Thor to be a really great guy. Thor emphasized the good things that he saw in Nick, and if there was problem that Thor saw in Nick he told him a story that would relate to what Nick was going through which made Nick realize that he was in excellent hands. Nick could hardly sit still not because he was in his first taxi ride, but he was on his way to The Avengers Tower. He felt very under dressed wearing merely a denim blue jacket, a plaid shirt, blue jeans, a pair of boots, and of course a cowboy hat, but one thing Thor told was to be true to who he was. Being a Southern boy was Nick right down to the core,. The cab stopped in front of the Avengers Tower and the cab driver said, "That'll be 15.40 Gomer." Nick looked at him for a second and shook his head slowly he said, "I have an accent and you think I just came in from the farm don't you? Be careful messing with us Southern boys" The cab driver said, "Look Gomer I don't care where you came from pay me or I'm holding your luggage until you come up with my money." Nick replied, "Hold on my wallet is in my suitcase let me get it for you." The cab driver said, "Oh no I open the trunk you take off. I don't think so." Nick shook his head and said, "Oh don't worry about that. I'll get my stuff you just wait right there." Nick got out of the cab and stood behind it. He then slammed his hands through the trunk lid as thought it were tissue paper and ripped upwards. There was a sizable hole in the trunk large enough for Nick to get his bag out. He got his bag out and walked over to the driver's side door to a very visibly shaken driver. Nick got out his wallet and said, "Now I believe the total was 15.40, and how much you figure I owe for the trunk?" The driver stared in awe at Nick and said, "Keep it. This one is on me, and the trunk a ummmm a pigeon slammed into it. Don't worry about it young man. Have a nice stay here." The driver left a trail of rubber as he drove away. Nick said, "Well that was right nice of him. Must've been my Southern charms." Nick smiled and had a good laugh as he made his way to the Avengers Tower. He was greeted by a sizable gentleman as Nick showed him his papers. The gentleman named Happy gave him a key card, told him to have a nice day, and told him he was impressed with the Taxi Cab trunk. Nick tipped his hat and said, "Thank you sir." He got on the elevator and it felt like it took forever to get to the 93rd floor, and when the elevator doors finally opened Nick was amazed at what he was seeing. His mom once went to Graceland and told him all about it and he knew it would break his mom's heart if she could hear Nick say Graceland was nothing compared to this place. He put his bag down and just looked around until finally he let out a whistle and said, "Look at all this. Oh my." Nick heard someone call from upstairs and he figured that must be one of his new roommates. He made his way up the stairs and almost tripped twice. When he finally arrived at the top of the stairs he saw a panel that looked like one of those security things S.H.I.E.L.D was famous for. Nick placed his hand there and a light ran over it and a voice said, “Agent Knock-Out Avenger Apprentice. Identification verified. Welcome to Avengers Tower Mr. Templeton.” As the door slid open Nick said, "We gotta work on that. I hear Mr. Templeton I expect to see my daddy nearby." Nick carried his bag down the hall and saw a young lady there and said as he approached, "Howdy ma'am oh sorry..." He sat his bag down and took off his hat and said, "I forgot my manners ma'am, Mama would slap me silly for not taking my hat off in the presence of a lady. Name's Nick Templeton ma'am if you'll allow me to get my bag in room I'll be happy to chat with you some more. Excuse me." Nick grabbed his hat and walked over to a door that read, "Knock Out" which slid open. Nick smiled and walked in his room. He said, "Well this is right nice. Very nice indeed." He opened up his bag and put his lap top, that Fury gave him, on the desk, then unloaded his clothes, and lastly took out the pocket watch and he opened it up. On one side had his mom and dad on one side, and his sister on the other side which Nick laid next to the lap top. He looked at the pictures and said, "I ain't gonna let you down I promise. I'll make you proud I swear." Nick exited the room and walked back to the young lady and said, "I apologize for being in such a rush. This is all so new to me. What's your name if you don't mind me asking?"
