Witches are what happens when a magical girl dies. Either they go completely insane with hysteria and sadness and depression so that their soul gem gets corrupted or your soul gem gets destroyed. Witches names are strange but are actually names, most of the times. Charlotte, Kriemhild Gretchen, etc.

They don't come back. They die and give birth to a new, evil entity that kills shit. Then other magical girls kill them.

Them those girls become witches.

Then more girls come and kill them-

That's why! You haven't actually watched Madoka Magica.
I suggest doing so, because the generic magical girl really can't be used for this. Because of soul gems, incubators, witches, etc. Having an angsty girl is a no no unless you want them to die fast, because soul gems get corrupted by dark emotions like sadness and when they corrupt completely...
