I was thinking she could only read the minds of ally,or willing participant unless she went probe mode, which requires both a rituall and contact to the forehead.

That or she couldn't control her powers and only read random crap. What i prefer, so it wouldn't effect the plot, but it would be neat, and sometimes comic releifesque.
