Gnaeus Fabius Pictor was born in 252 BCE, while the 1st Punic War was still raging on. Due to his young age, Cn. Pictor never had the chance to participate in this first Punic conflict. Due to his patrician heritage, Cn. Pictor was able to serve in the cavalry forces and eventually be appointed as a military tribune as he started his climb of the cursus honorum. After serving in the military for 10 years, as was usual, Cn. Pictor, at the age of 28 was finally elected to the office of Quaestor. Furthermore, he was elected to the office of Quaestor a second time once he was allowed to do so. After marrying a wife from a junior branch of the house of Cornelia, Cn. Pictor has ambitions for obtaining the Aedileship.

Now that a second war with Carthage has flared up, Cn. Fabius Pictor now leads one of Romes' legions, Legio XII Minervia (Minerva being Cn. Pictor's preferred deity). How will his Fabian heritage reveal itself in this war? Will it bring him honor, or will he repeat the mistakes of his ancestors, actions that almost wiped out the Gens Fabia completely?[/hider]
