Paul looked at the doorknob and rubbed his chin. He tried to imagine the inside, with all of its mechanisms and stuff. He touched the door knob and he tried to will the door open. Nothing happened. Paul tried again, much harder, even muttering "Open Sesame". 

Again, the door stood tall, and Paul felt a little foolish. He let go of the doorknob and turned to Hermione. "Well, I don't think I'm a child of Hermes. Even if I was, I don't think I was doing it right." He tried for a smile, but he still felt embarrassed.
