Jameson] SUBMIT FORM #010 – Caelum C. Jameson AKA: Pilot 273 GENDER: Female AGE: 26 DATE OF BIRTH: 4 / 12 / 2574 BIRTHPLACE: Mars, Biodome #4 DISTINGUISHING FEATURES: 1. Minimalist representation of the solar system running down her arm. Mars is highlighted. 2. On her back there is a faint, simplistic tattoo of the constellation 'Caelum', her namesake. 3. Usually wears a dark grey jumpsuit over whatever is underneath (tie-dye and novelty shirts). Has a collection of garish hawaiian shirts on the ship. PERSONALITY: Caelum is a zany pilot whose head is constantly in the clouds (or, more likely, the stars). Her dreamy behaviour is off-putting but is ultimately harmless as even under her haze of imagination, she can focus on the job being done... sometimes. She devoutly believes in the false ideals of military service that the rebellion advertises with – honor, respect, camaraderie – and in that she is rather gullible. In person, she is awkward and mistrustful of others but hardly shy, whereas over the comms she tends to be confident and chipper, if plagued by often morbid thoughts and dark humour. LIKES: Caelum is something of a control freak and having complete authority over every aspect of the ship tickles her fancy. Despite her bad experiences with it, flying The Medusa is her favourite thing in the world – she longed for it during her sabbatical. She enjoys puzzles and games, particularly those that stimulate the mind like chess. DISLIKES: Caelum is a typical shut-in in that she would be happy if she could stay in her cabin forever and never have to breathe fresh air or stand under sunlight again. Even so, the prospect of suffering from one of the various illnesses (mental and physical) that plague space-travel is horrifying to her – particularly star-sickness which she has encountered before. TALENTS: Piloting, chess (against computer), intelligence puzzles and games. PSYCHE ABILITIES: Had disposition for but never took the Psyche shot. FAMILY: Mother || Callisto (No Surname) || Martian Spiritual Leader and pilgrim to Sycamore Father || Edgar Jameson || Earth-born General and eventual colonist on Sycamore. HISTORY: Caelum was born on Mars to a somewhat controversial pairing of a revered spiritual leader and a rough-talking Earth soldier looking for a bit of excitement and fun while on leave. Her mother – a woman who preached celibacy to her followers – was “struck down with promises of a bright future for her child” from the spirits and married the confused (but loyal and gold-hearted) Edgar Jameson. For the first nine years of her life, Caelum was raised on Mars under particularly religious circumstances courtesy of her mother. Her eccentricities were overlooked; however, the early signs of an uncultivated psychic talent were not. Due to the strict rules of the religion she followed, she was not allowed to take the Psyche shot to activate them by Callisto and the ability fizzled out. Later she found out that the decision was made out of fear as psychic children were disappearing from Mars at that time. She grew up following a strict religious regime to supposedly 'enhance' her without the use of Psyche that ultimately didn't work. In place of a regimented education, she went through 'soul cleansings' and rituals, meditated for hours on end for no gain whatsoever. Her father, who was usually willing to humour his wife's flighty spirituality, was not willing to sacrifice his daughter's proper education and so decided to uproot the family from Biodome 4 on Mars and move to Sycamore. Caelum's later childhood and early teenage years were fairly blissful, if isolated from the rest of the world. She was home-schooled with a few other children who were determined to be too problematic for the education system of the colony to manage. On her request, her father used his military background and pulled some strings to allow Caelum into pilot school at the age of fourteen – a full year early – where she excelled, given that she was actually interested in what she was learning. Just before her graduation at age 16, her father disappeared on what was supposed to be a routine trip. When he didn't return, she was introduced to a high-ranking admiral who informed her that Edgar Jameson was a man of relative importance in the war that seemed so far away from Sycamore and everyone's minds. She was somewhat guilt-tripped into her first mission aboard The Medusa a year later, told that aiding them would “do her father's legacy justice.” A further year and a half into her duties aboard The Medusa, the crew were hit by a plague of 'star-sickness' that spread throughout the whole ship. Since the doctor was taken by it so quickly, there was nobody left sane to administer treatment and so it was only her position in the sealed off pilot's cabin that saved her. The journey back to allied space took six months, and crippling loneliness was not the only issue she had to deal with. Her mindless crewmates began to wear away the defences and shields of the ship. Because they threatened her own life, she was forced to activate Quarantine Protocol B – one only available to the pilot, or whoever was currently in control of the helm. As a result, [REDACTED]. She arrived back in Sycamore, alone, and took a well-deserved sabbatical to follow the religion of her childhood. Caelum Jameson was the first crew member hunted down informed of the revival of The Medusa, placed into a refresher course of military training once she agreed to take up the role of pilot (and trustworthy 'middle man' to the Defective Alliance).
