I'm a female, just to avoid that ambiguous "they," lol. But the five years in my bio refers specifically to when the war was in Ferros. Since she fought solely for and in Ferros, her "war" was only the last five years of the whole thing in total. It states in the bio that she didn't go off to war until Malfear entered Ferros, so her time line makes sense.

She left for the tower a few months after the conclusion of the war, so twelve years ago, and would have graduated and become a full-fledged Guardian five years later, so eight years ago.
